Are you certain about this? Thomas had a good set of whiskers imo. It took Tyson to put a faded Thomas down and lord knows how many punches.
Buuuuut, Tunney couldn't stop the very faded Dempsey. So maybe, I don't know, he hasn't got the ability to Ko Pinklon.
He can cut him with those sharp punches. And like so many of the big chin guys---I sure do not think Pinky takes body punishment very well. That is how Mean Gene stops this guy I think......wears him out to the body and comes upstairs late and the ref waves it off.
Thomas wins. He has an excellent jab, he'd dictate how the fight goes imo. Tunney, great fighter, tough as boots loses by decision.
I actually don't think much of Tunney and consider him over rated on most All-Time Heavyweight lists. But Pinklon Thomas? I'll have to go with Tunney by decision.
A good, peak version of Thomas would give Tunney something to think about. Not saying I favour him, cause I don't, but he was strong in a lot of the attributes Tunney was. I think Gene would have to work pretty hard for the W. Overall, of course Tunney was much more consistent than Pinklon.
