Nonsense. His size was a huge advantage.

Don't act outraged. Who knocks off Valuev to become WBA heavyweight champ in 2006?

Does Harry Thomas become WBA heavyweight champion in 2006? How does he beat Valuev? By brutal KO? Go through the list. Tell us why.

Does Johnny Paycheck? How about Al McCoy? Tami Mauriello?

You're avoiding the question of the thread.

Why do you keep repeating the worst Louis challengers, when he likely wouldn't even reach them in first place?

Valuev would likely lose to one of Farr, Schmeling, Pastor, Godoy, Baer, Conn, Nova or Walcott. He could also lose to some lesser names, but let's give him the benefit of doubt.

How was Tami Mauriello one of the worst?

Mauriello, unlike 20-something other Louis title challengers, was actually the #1 contender when Joe Louis fought him.

Does Tami Mauriello become the WBA Heavyweight Champion in 2006 and knock off Valuev?

Yes or no? And how does he do it?

Louis fought Conn, Godoy, Baer and Walcott twice. Which bouts does Valuev lose? You think Conn in the Louis rematch beats Valuev, too?

Maurellio actually wasn't among the worst, fair point. You mentioned him with far worse fighters.

I don't think it's unreasonable to think that Maurelio would beat Valuev. He was good pressure fighter who was never stopped before Louis fight. Valuev would have his share of advantages, but Maurellio would likely outwork him and I wouldn't bet on Nikolai KO here.

No, but he wouldn't even reach this fight. Assuming that he'd beat Braddock, he'd lose the title within next few fights and likely wouldn't even reach Conn fight.

Would you expect Louis to take him as a tune up?

If so, then you think less of him than I do!
    None in my humble opinion.
If thee had been four alphabet straps floating around in Louis's era, then he would have held all four of them.

If he was content to hold one, and let the rest fight it out over the remaining three, then a fair few of his challengers would have held one.

Farr, Pastor, Godoy, Nova, Baer Jr, and Conn would have been champions.

If there had been four alphabet straps in the mid 30s, then Risko, Uzcdun, Heeney, Levinsky, Schaff, Hamas etc. would all have been champions.

That is what an alphabet title is worth in historic terms!

    Now that becomes complex.

If we are matching Joe Louis against Waldamir Klitschko, then we know what we are dealing with.

If we are matching what amount to two of their contenders, we might need to do a bit of research!

Then you are lucky that you weren't up against one of Primo Carnera's sparring partners.

It could have been eleven seconds including the count!

In the mid 30s? (LOL) That would've been a neat trick.

    * Schaaf was dead by 1933, after losing to Carnera, Baer, Uknown Winston in three of his last five fights.
    * Heeney retired in 1933 after only winning one of his last six.
    * Uzcudan never won a fight after 1933
    * Risko had a 13-13 record from 1932 to 1940

Who is dead Ernie Schaaf lifting an alphabet title off of in the mid 30s exactly?

Those are interesting names, but this is which Joe Louis title Challenger beats Valuev. And none of those guys were Joe Louis title challengers.

None of them were factors by the time he won the title. Or they weren't even alive when he did.

Becomes complex? Did I surprise you with that question 10 pages into the thread?

That's the title of the thread?

The answer was supposed to be in your first post in this thread. (LOL)

Nicolay Valuev vs. Tami Mauriello in 2006 for the WBA Heavyweight title ... and you pick Mauriello?

That's a big no for me. (LOL)
