Many remember this infamous event from 2003: This content is protected Bob Sapp at the time was a 6'5", 330 lbs behemoth in his prime. How would that fight have gone down?
Sapp fresh as a daisy an full of energy gets stunned an took out by anything Tyson connects with. He won’t be around for his cardio to f up , over rapidly
In MMA? Sapp would have wasted Mike back then. Sapp beat better strikers, took punishment that Mike would never have been able to take, was I'm his prime, and Mike was shot. Trust me, Sapp was one seriously dangerous guy back then while Tyson was a shell of himself. This should be Tyson's next exhibition fight actually.
It REALLY depends on when in Sapp's career Tyson fights him. There's a clear break point: the moment Cro Cop broke Sapp's orbital bone Sapp was never the same again. Before that moment, Sapp takes Tyson down and pounds Tyson into gravy. After that moment Sapp tries until he gets hit in the mouth and taps out.
Are we talking about the same Bob Sapp who started crying in the ring when he was hit? In any kind of stand up fight(boxing/kickboxing) Tyson TKOs him 10 times out of 10. Sapp had no business being in a ring. He was a circus freak with a huge following in Japan.
Maybe, but I still don't like Mike's chances. When his speed left him, his power wasn't what it was. I'd still take a post-Mirko Sapp to win. Mike just didn't have it in him in the 2000's.
In MMA Sapp would have beat him, might have even done it in kickboxing as well. Mike was well past his best by then and the size/strength difference was monumental. And around that time Sapp did beat one of the greatest HW kickboxers ever and also gave one of the greatest HW MMA fighters ever all he could handle too, just through raw strength and size. He wouldnt have been able to KO Mike but he probably could have just swarmed him and ragdolled him to a point where the ref stopped it.
In anything other than straight boxing I'd give Sapp a decent chance, simply due to Tyson being an ageing fighter out of his element. In a boxing match, even in his faded condition, Tyson would have wrecked him.
A street fight is all about striking and staying on your feet. Even then I would favour Tyson In a grappling or ground situation it goes to Sapp. His size would play a big factor too Anything involving staying upright and Tyson is a big favourite
Maybe this fight slipped your attention: This content is protected And maybe this fight too: This content is protected There was a time when Bob Sapp was legitimately a threat to ANYbody in the ring. His sheer size and brute strength compensated for his lack of skills. Hoost and Nogueira are ATG's in their respective disciplines and Sapp gave them everything they could handle. It shouldn't happen but it did. Tyson against THAT version of Sapp in MMA is straight up unfair to Tyson. The other version of Sapp ... well, yeah that wouldn't end well for Sapp assuming we're talking a good version of Tyson.
First clean shot Tyson landed would have been it…. Sapp is huge, but no chin, the lung capacity of an ant, and zero boxing ability.
Mike hits harder than anyone Sapp had faced. Sapp also turtles up and quits easily. If it goes to the ground though, Mike is ****ed
