Every judge's scorecard should have a "Default Draw" box

I know these "change the rules" threads are annoying but here's what i'd like to see.

Every judge's scorecard has a box with "Default Draw" beside it. Every judge scores every fight as normal, but when the get to the end of the fight in extreme circumstances they can tick that box. If all three judges - and only if all three judges - tick that box, the scores aren't read out and the fight is a default draw.

What would constitute a default draw?

Fights where you think to yourself after it "nobody deserved to win that really."

A default draw would be super-rare but it would be for fights where there are hundreds of clinches tolerated by both fighters, where one fighter spends all night running away and the other is useless, stuff like that.

    @McGrain
Would you put Bika-Ward under this category?

I think that's a wee bit better than these.

They spent half the time wrestling each other.

That's considerably less time than Bey and Vazquez spent wrestling each other.

So Vazquez-Bey is the upper limit?

    For what?

It's not really like that as a function. The idea is that if three judges agree that the two fighters aren't trying hard enough, are clinching 10 times a round, are in a fight that nobody deserves to win, then they tick the box. If all 3 tick it it's a default draw. A judge can do so for Holmes-Cobb if he wants to, same as an individual judge is free to score the fight for Cobb.

If you and two other judges were scoring that fight and saw it as a default draw, a default draw is what it would be.

They kind of had it in parts of South America in parts of last century. You had to win pretty clearly or the fight was scored a draw. This isn't that, but rather an inducement for fighters to get it on in the worst fights only. It would try to eliminate profiting from the absolute worst fights.

Rigo automatic loss for that running. It’s a boxing match. Not ballet.

That's the dumbest **** I've heard in a while. With all the bad judging going on, you want to give corrupt judges a reason to screw fighters even more?

I can feel the pain, but it just wouldn't happen.

Even where judges scorecards are afflicted by corruption, it's very rarely all three judges (does happen, but very much the minority). Secondly, more importantly, nobody is going to pay anyone to mark their fighter as someone who is so awful he was in a fight nobody deserves. That just won't happen, if you're paying cash, you're paying for points.

For me any fights won by a spoiler spoiling deserves this kind of score.

Rios vs Abril for example. I hated that fight.

Those are fair points. Cannot argue. I assume this idea was spawn from the horrible Rigo fight? If you follow boxing, much like everyone does that comes to ESB, you already knew what Rigo was going to do. If I knew, you knew and Casimero knew, then why wasn't he ready for it? Learn to cut the ring off. Learn how to trap your opponent. There's more to an offensive game plan than just throwing punches. As dissapointed as I was with Rigo, I was equally dissapointed in Casimero's inability to prepate for something he knew was going to happen. He's lucky Rigo wasn't 20% more offensive. He would have lost a wide UD.
