Yes. I feel like with a better trainer, Zab could've pulled out a win over Cotto, for example. He would also lose focus in fights, Baldomir, for example. Whom he had no business losing too. I think Zab needed a more cerebral trainer, someone who could help him make the adjustments along the course of a fight. Virgil Hunter comes to mind.
Judah is just another dad who had no business training his kid, and Zab needed the help. But his pops has a lot of company in the bad training department. "Double the ****ing jab" became a meme on here.
He showed what he was capable of in the early part of the Mayweather fight. Faster and hit harder, but lacked discipline and focus.
In fairness, that was often the only real advice he required and he didn't listen to it. He had most things down. Because he was well-trained.
Virgil Hunter is too cerebral for a hothead like Zab. I think a fiery trainer like Barry Hunter would be a good fit. I'd also like to see what the equally fiery Kevin Cunningham could do with a southpaw boxer/puncher like Zab. Cunningham has an outstanding track record with lighter punching southpaws (Cory Spinks and Devon Alexander).
