How Would A Jack Dempsey - Kenny Norton Fight Play Out ?

Dempsey would have eaten his cornflakes out of Norton's skull.

 

"I will beat you up!!"
"I am a big puncher !!!"
"Crap.."
Interesting matchup between 2 great pressure fighter, and though the stronger Norton would outmuscle him a bit, all the faster dempsey would need is one left hook, and it would the beginning of Kenny's downfall.
Then Dmepsey cut the ring off and starts beating him up a la willard.

Not every big punchers, but most of them.
I certainly think he could be someone like um mike dejohn, and MAYBE guys like bob starrfield (since he was much smaller) and shannon briggs.........maybe.

 

I think it would be an unlucky night for Kenny.

for all he was a very capable fighter. A great technician. A great athlete. I watch all the punches a past prime Jerry Quarry landed on a prime kenny Norton and just worry about what a prime Manasa Mauler would have done with that opportunity.

 

I am not saying that Norton could never bat a big puncher, but we never actually saw it.

Dempsey has to be favorite here.

 

The Dempsey myth lives on. Look at his resume and then look at the fights themselves. He beat Jess Willard, a big guy that did not have a lot of skill if you watch the Johnson fight, his best win. Carpentier was a LHW, as was Gibbons. Miske was also a LHW, plus he was sick on the night he fought Dempsey. And then there's Firpo. Watching the film he doesn't look that well conditioned. Then Dempsey also lost to Willie Meehan, and reports say he was a fat old dude. Bill Brennan and Jim Flynn are really the only two standouts that I see that Dempsey beat, and Sharkey. Dempsey did have a good chin and power. He loses a completive decision to Norton.

 

Dempsey overwhelms him IMO

 

Chinny Kenny doesn't make it out of the first round, bet on it.

 

It’d be dempseys best opponent fergy, by a country mile. What was dempseys prime fighting weight ? Are they similar? Im thinking Dempsey was a 180 lbs roughly or was he heavier
