I loved Hops...but man, many of his fights were abysmal to watch.

 

Is Winky really an ATG? Based on being difficult to beat at times and a long time JrMW? If one is being fair, they'll see his resume is not very deep. He was definitely a level above the also-rans or mere contenders, but he has very few elite level wins.

 

I don't want to see him brutally knocked out which is why I didn't really fancy the Crawford fight. I want him to retire so boxing can move on win lose or draw. He gets in the way of fights happening because everyone from 154-140 would fight him before everyone else see the talks with Mikey G Crawford and even Ryan Garcia FFS. He will have a dominating performance against Ugas which is a great fight for him to bow out on and run for president.

 

IMO He's without a doubt a HOF fighter and a top 100 ATG and a top 5 ATG at 154.

once he got his shot he made the best of it, but his window of opportunity was small due to his age at that point.

I am not impressed.

The fact that a LW could go up to HW and win is proof that the competition is lacking in the first place. It’s similar to the Gracie comparison. When the competition was so weak that a LW basically beat HWs.

 

SRL is top 6. Pac has a case for being greater than SRL, and SRL has a case for being better than Pac. I could argue for both quite easily.

SRL has Duran, hearns and Hagler.
Pac has beaten 20 current or former world champs, won 8 divisions across 10 and was an ATG at his 9th weight class, 9th weight class, let me repeat, a lineal champ on his first weight class and still ATG level at his 9th weight class. Oldest WW champion in history.

Greatness is about being loved and recognition (ali), breaking records and above all, doing the impossible.

As great as SRL is, the only “impossible” task he did was Hagler. He was favourite over Duran. Pac did the impossible so many times, that’s called greatness.

So state your opinion or whatever, but I just made a VERY strong case for Pac. And obviously I’m not alone in that.

He was avoided at times. No doubt. Winky messed up declining Oscar's offer though, which would have been a career high payday for Winky.
