I see he cut his hair and looks like a good boy these days. He got taught a lesson? What is he doing with his career? This content is protected
I like Thurman. Talks a good fight and has boxing IQ and the gob to back it up. He should chase a fight with one eyed Errol Spence in DEC or early 2022. Call the show "PAC leftovers"
Thurman has been injury prone for many years now Knew to avoid Spence like the plague, would have stopped him with a bodyshot for sure & got beaten by old man Pac. Garcia was his final hurrah. He is technically retired as far as I'm concerned. Spence will retire soon and Crawford will follow. Expect 147 to open up big time. Return of King Khan (joke)
I think that is a great thing in what should be a marquee division of the sport - Spence and Crawford not getting it on reflects badly on both of them from a legacy POV. If we take the old guard out of the equation, it's quite interesting:- Vergil Ortiz Jaron "Boots" Ennis Eimantas Stanionis Kudratillo Abdukakhorov Egidijus Kavaliauskas (gatekeeper) Connor Benn* then coming up in next year or 2 possibly might be :- Josh Taylor Regis Prograis Jose Ramirez Teofimo Lopez Tank Davis* I've marked Connor Benn with an asterisk as as much as he has improved, I'm not really sure he will cut it at world level - but think they money will be there to get him big fights, and like him or loathe him, his style makes for entertaining scraps. Tank I'm not sure will come up, and even if he does, based on his excursions at 135 and 140 i'm not sure he will fight a live body. Obviosuly by being Undisputed @140, Taylor is arguably the pick of the guys coming up, but I have a feeling that Prograis might just do better @147 than Taylor does - if Regis can iron out some of his inconsistencies, I think when he is on point he can be very very good. Ramirez may also benefit a bit more than Taylor @147 given the rumours of how drained he was, but I think the Taylor fight showed that unless he gains some other aspects to his game, his relentless aggression is not enough to cut it at the elite level. Given Ortiz recent result against Mean Machine, and how young he is and how much better he can still get, he looks to be the top dog @147 once the old guard depart, though I'm sure Boots and Taylor will have a lot to say about that. If these guys can all get it on and not dance around each other, 147 could really be something special over next 3 years or so - tho a lot depends on how long Crawford and co decide to stay...
Hope you're right, this has been an awful era. Spence at least was making a run before his accident but now appears damaged, Crawford has been cashing in on his career at 140, and no one has been able to beat them. It could be like it was 10-15 years ago, with all the lower weight guys (Mayweather, Pacquiao, Marquez) making great matchups at WW. That would really revive the division. I'm just worried that Ortiz and Ennis will be the new Crawford and Spence.
im no fan of thurman, however crawford & spence want no part of him.on a good day he could give them a lot of trouble.
Thurman basically fizzled and now fights only when he absolutely has to. He does not help the division in any way, although it's really Crawford and Spence choking the life out of it.
