Fair play. I admit, it's not unknown for him to be occasionally overrated (though in fairness you could say that about almost any fighter). Peace.

He was also a 19 year old kid with no amateur career whatsoever. He started his pro career from scratch.
Actually that's not true at all. Sylvester Jones had been boxing for longer than Williams and had a much longer amateur career.
You're acting like the ref stopped the fight and it was a TKO. What ACTUALLY happened is that Williams was chasing Jones all over the ring by the 4th round when the bout was called off to make time for the main event.

Seeing as Williams had no chance to come back and was a very green child, I don't really count this loss against him. If every bout could be abruptly cut short, Frazier could've potentially lost to Mike Bruce (who lost to Cleveland Williams) who dropped him. Ali could've lost to Sonny Banks (who funnily enough also lost to Williams and very possibly suffered his fatal injury against him) who dropped him.

    1. When you say "most people on this forum" you mean 3 people other than yourself, one of whom, who had a serious agenda against Williams conceded it was a close fight and could've gone either way.

    2. I could just as easily say the averaged score card on eyeofthering.com (compiled using averages of fan corecards) had Williams ahead as well as about 5-6 youtube users on this link

and it would have just as much credence as your statement.

    3. Speaking of being in the minority, one only needs to look at your poll choice to assess the value of your word. https://www.boxingforum24.com/threa...fighter-primo-carnera-or-riddick-bowe.585492/

Who the **** did Williams ever quit against? Jesus Christ, do you ever contribute anything even remotely resembling value? You called Walker an "*******" moron, when you are by far one of the stupidest posters on this forum.

Here's one of my more recent posts on his KO victims which would obviously exclude men like Agromonte, Richardson, and Daniels.

Did you know that Ernie Terrell tried a modest comeback in 1973 ?, he was rated in Ring magazine while George Foreman was champion.

Yes, he was an aging shell of himself when Merritt knocked him out in his last fight. Only person who knocked him out in or near his prime was Williams.

I never said he wasn’t 19. I said he was 28-0 going against a guy who was 7-3. He was matched to win.

It is true Sly had less fights and was booked as the opponent to showcase Williams on a marciano card.

No I agree with you. It was cut short to make way for the main event because it was a preliminary bout subject to this. But Williams was decked twice.

    Flat on his back.

You have avoided this point. I wonder why? It was not an important fight.

You don’t count a loss where the guy was decked twice? I am glad Williams won the rematch. That erases the loss and shows improvement. But it was a defeat.

Williams won a maximum of 3 rounds. That’s how two judges saw it. I would not be suprised if the third judge who scored it 7-3 the other way had the names mixed up. The crowd booed that score. The fans agreeing with the other two judges.

Good fight thanks for posting this. Still watching it but first impressions is if Terrell is 6-6 then Williams though listed at 6-2 gotta be at least 6-3 or 6-4 in comparison.

OK, but that didn't stop you from saying.
With the exception of Satterfield, Williams was stopped on his feet against all of the above men who faced him. So are these KO losses off his ledger, as well as his KO over Terrell or do they stay because their removal doesn't suit your agenda?

While we're at it, besides the aforementioned Satterfield, Williams was only ever counted out against Mac Foster so I guess he was only ever try ko'd when he was a green last second substitute, and a literally shot 36 year old. It appears I've been underrating Williams durability. Excellent point Chok!

This is probably one of the dumbest things you said. If the promotors wanted him to win so bad, they wouldn't prematurely stop a fight where he was behind and making a comeback.
It is true Sly had less fights and was booked as the opponent to showcase Williams on a marciano card.

I'm sorry, did you see this bout? If so where can I find the available footage?

I have not avoided this point. You avoided and actually deleted my response when you replied to this. Ali was decked by Sonny Banks, and Henry Cooper. If the bout was stopped right then and there prematurely he'd have lost to both. Same goes for Frazier's bouts against Bruce and Bonavena.

Read my above reply. Pretty hilarious you give credit to Jones for his loss to Williams when he was by definition a child, yet give Williams no credit for his victory over a 23 year old Terrell who'd been fighting for 5 years at that point.

 YOU gave Williams a maximum of 4 rounds and even laughably gave Terrell the 10th, a round which he was hit with a big right, and holding on for dear life. Everyone else in your thread, gave Williams a minimum of 4 rounds with many giving Terrell only 1 more, and others believing Terrell actually lost the fight.

 What about the AP? Did someone hold them at gunpoint and force them to print Williams as the winner? Your refusal to give Williams any credit is amusing.
