We argued about Plant a year and a half ago. I said what you're saying now. You sounded over the moon about him. Have you changed your mind up on him? Honest question.

PBC did a good job of keeping Plant with the belt and in the weight until the big money fight showed up. If he got 10M like I've read, he did do amazing for himself there.

I highly doubt that was me, while I liked him initially... like 6 years ago.... I've been running Plant down for the last 4 years or so. I went back to see my references to Caleb Plant, not quite glowing are they? In fact, damn.. I think I might hate Plant more than I hate Canelo.

It appears that you got the wrong guy Nonito.

Plant is OK. Canelo sleeps him before the fifth. 'OK' isn't going to cut the mustard here.

Canelo has lead feet and doesn't have the handspeed of Plant. Everytime Plant fights the commentators and scouting report is this guy is fast, fast, fast, really ****en fast.

I've seen Caleb Plant's last 14 matches. I can't say I've ever been truly impressed by his speed.:nusenuse:

Not sure. But one thing I am pretty sure of: speed is one of the most overrated qualities in fighters. Give me timing any day before speed...

I havent watched Plant. But i agree with this statement. Ive noticed that hand speed isnt an issue at the top level, and canelo has beaten guys with fast hands and fast feet. Canelo is a master at timing, and those vicious bodyshots will take a toll on even the quickest guys.

Don't get me wrong, speed is good on the whole but it's also the easiest thing to spot. It looks impressive too. But there are downsides - boxers blessed with natural speed sometimes fail to address flaws because their speed masks them. I'm thinking Khan here. He never really evolved because his speed hid otherwise glaring weaknesses. Whereas timing relies on a boxer learning his craft, understanding what an opponent does and when, etc. As you say, Canelo is a prime example.

In short, speed is a gift and timing is a skill. One of them inevitably declines over the years, the other can be improved and honed pretty much until a fighter is shot...

Plant has zero chance to beat Clenelo. Zero. Clenelo needs to injure both his arms and legs to lose to Plant. Plant might win a round or two early on based on his speed and as we know Clen is a slow starter usually but once Clenbuterol has figured him out he's gonna ragdoll Plant and beat him senseless.

@Nonito Smoak CST been vocal on Plant being average at best for years.

I only like Plant because he might be related to Robert Plant so that’s a “whole lotta love” :aaaaa:
Also Big Red is gonna make Plant “sweat gonna make him move”:aplastao:

Funny cuz its true. He came to my gym to spar for the plant fight. Instead of me who weighs 168, 6 ft 1 he picks my boy lucius 154 lbs guy and my boy beats thr **** out of him. Now i know why he didnt want to spar. Woulda never made it passed my jab. Eitherway. He quit vs plant and acted when he got hurt.
