Got to go with Kid Pambele as the natural, established junior welter and because Arguello wasn't really prime at 140. I still think the Arguello who fought Pryor would give him a serious fight though.

UD15 for Cervantes in a very competitive fight.

Arguello. Greater fighter. Version that fought Pryor 1 may have been past it but he had enough that night to beat any version of Pambele IMO

Cervantes by split. Closer fight perhaps than thought.

Cervantes 8th round kayo. Greater fighter and just was to big. Everything Al can do, Antonio does better. A bigger smoother better defensively smoother offonse. In his prime El Pambele stops Pryor by kayo. No doubt.

The more I think about this one the more interesting a fight this becomes. I stick by my verdict of Cervantes by decision but both fighters were such technically correct fighters, I can see points where they look like mirror images of each other.

The other thing to consider, which may or may not be a factor at all, is they are near identical in height and reach - both 72" reach and Arguello taller by an inch. So, while we think of Cervantes as the bigger man having spent a good 10 years at 140, Arguello grew into the weight classes he competed in very naturally over the 8 year span of his championships. Even at this weight, I'd probably still give the power edge to Arguello so I think it comes down to who can impose themselves best and maybe counter better. Cervantes would also be at his peak.

I think Arguello is clearly the greater of the two, just not at this weight.

Could not disagree more. In the primes and overall Arguello easily the greater of the two with the better resume to boot.

Cervantes UD, or late round stoppage around the 13th.
