Is that a excuse? Can you idiot's wait what Canelo does? One thing I know that he won't get knocked out cold like Jones did.
It hit Roy on the left side of his jaw, meaning in that moment he would have been wide open to a straight right.
Canelo doesn't have anything going for him in this match up barring chin, but Jones was only wobbled/knocked out at 175. We're talking about a fight at 168 against a prime, 26 years old Roy Jones Jr. Speed isn't even a contest. Power isn't a contest either, Jones had 32 bouts, 28 by knockout before leaving 168 to pursue 175, he was one of the hardest punching fighters in boxing p4p during his tenure below 175. Reflexes, ring iq, punch combinations, hooks, jabs, height, reach, foot speed, everything goes to Jones. Canelo is great, but Jones is greater as well as being the bigger man. In a realistic fight I envision Roy out speeding and out hustling Canelo to a lopsided 12 round decision where Canelo is turtled up in a shell in the center of the ring most of the fight unable to land anything significant.
Pitter patter offense? Roy Jones had 32 fights, 28 of them by KO before moving up to LHW. The man was a bonafide power punching freak which came from his extreme, unrivaled speed. We're not talking about Amir Khan here, Jones had legitimate knockout power on both hands and can throw any punch better than any boxer who ever lived with extreme accuracy and precision. This content is protected I don't see what Canelo is going to do vs this guy, let alone any fighter in history at that weight.
Alvarez won't be able to corner Jones for long. It is more likely Canelo ends on the ropes. @Spongebob south paw pants Canelo has fought once at LHW, he will demand a CW for Bivol. Why are you even discussing Jones at LHW? Ginger's speed @ 175 is poor and he will gas.
Griffin cornered Jones easily in their first bout, even though Jones blew him away in the rematch there`s no way Jones could come out blazing like that v Canelo, he would have been countered to death, Canelo is far better than Griffin was.
Good post. Of course we have the usual suspects claiming Canelo beats this guy.... Dren..jm22..a mentally ill pigeon on the road....
GGG is better than Roy was at landing jabs, GGG is great at setting up shots with the jab, he would have knocked Roy out.
Jones was really good at slipping jabs. He could lead with massive hooks. Did you ever see Jones get knocked down at MW?
I respect your opinion. Canelo is a great fighter. Roy would have respected him. Roy was such a smart fighter. He’d have done everything to keep the fight in the centre of the ring. I don’t think Canelo would have landed any big power shots though. He has a small reach and Roy would have been too elusive for him.
