I don’t give Morrison much chance here at all. That loss to Bentt is seriously overlooked in H2H threads IMO. That being said your comment made me laugh out loud
It seems to me that Tommy Morrison just couldn't get to that next level when it really counted. Rocky Marciano could. That tells me what would happen in this fantasy match. It is interesting that Tommy Morrison beat George Foreman yet George got the title fight against Michael Moorer. I wonder what would have happened if Tommy had gotten that fight instead?
Morrison probably would have weighed the same as Rocky without the PEDs and had about 1% of the work ethic, so a 1950s Morrison isn't beating Rocky.
This is a street fight. Two tough guys..... Rocky is tougher, Maybe not as skilled. But he would wear the Duke down
I favour Marciano but I don't think Tommy is without a chance here. Much bigger, more skilled and often started like a house on fire. Marciano's chin could be dented and it was certainly within Morrison's ability to dent it. In fact I'll go one further and say that the first 1-3 rounds would be quite dangerous for Rocky. If he got hurt, Tommy could finish it.
I have just rewatched Marciano-Savold... to see if Rocky really looked as bad in this one, as I remembered it. And he did! I can't recall ever watching a world class boxer miss so many wild, telegraphed punches! How can anyone look at this fight, and say that Morrison has zero chance against Rocky? Not saying he would win - but it's certainly not an unreasonable opinion.
Jokes on you Rocky is a modern flyweight and that's my derestriction HW boy. I will be taking him off your hands he gets crushed my the Modern Morrison- could you imagine if we took away Lopez's skills and put him in there with Tommy because that is what you are asking.
Really don't see how Morrison wins outside of a punchers chance. Favored his left and didnt throw enough right hands to keep aggressive swarmers off of him and that is going to be a huge factor in this matchup. Had very suspect stamina and while he could take single shots such as against Ruddock, he often crumbled against combinations and had poor recovery as seen against Bennt and Mercer. Rocky threw a non stop barrage of shots and had great stamina and a great chin. Even with the size difference between, on paper he brings many things to the table that would frustrate Morrison. And there is zero possibility of Morrison using lateral movement to outbox Rocky the way he did Foreman, that version of Foreman was 40 something and very overweight. Rocky was in superb condition and never stopped tracking a guy down to wear him out. It's not like Morrison can stick and move with a jab or become a cagey defensive counter puncher either.
