Pac or draw for me, but like I said in other threads, way too many 'pick 'em' rounds to be upset at an Ugas win.
I had it a draw I could see you giving it to either guy by a round. Ugas is very limited but used his reach and size advantage well. PAC is shot to smithereens and now needs to retire from professional boxing.
Competitive yes, but it was a clear win for Ugas who was just younger, quicker, stronger. Ugas used his height and reach to his advantage and pretty much controlled the tempo of the fight. So glad that was'nt Spence in their vs Pacquiao, would have been a really sad evening to alot of boxing fans. Lets see if Freddie Roach keeps his word and tells Pacquiao directly that he's had a wonderful run and that now its time for him to stick strictly to his political career.
This. Ugas won for me, but even if you want to slice it the other way there's no way a Pac-Spence fight would've been competitive.
You don't know that. Spence is a tremendous talent but Pac could have given him some problems. It's unclear if Spence is the same fighter he was before the crash, early on Pac is still dangerous. We have no idea what will happen if someone lands a good shot to the eye area of Spence. This was always the problem with the Ugas fight. It was a no win scenario. Even if Pac beat Ugas people would still say he should retire and that he would have no chance vs Spence. You can't predict what would of happened if Spence fought Pac based on what happened last night. Of course I would expect Spence to win a decision maybe wide, but there could have been some fireworks. Maybe something like when Mosley fought Mayweather and Mosley caught Mayweather in the 2nd round. I could see something like that happenining if Pac fought Spence then Spence ended up taking control after that like Floyd did vs Mosley. Just because Pac lost to Ugas doesn't mean he wouldn't be competitive with Spence. We have no idea what kind of condition Spence is in after the eye injury, we don't even know if Spence will ever fight again or if he will end up like Kell Brook with nagging eye injuries for the rest of his career. Hopefully Spence will recover fully, but what happened vs Ugas doesn't change the fact that Pac vs Spence is still an intriguing fight. I doubt it would happen now after Pac lost but it's not a forgone conclusion that Spence would dominate Pac or stop him. For all we know, Spence could have problems with Ugas. In boxing you just never know what's gonna happen until two guys step in the ring.
Stop the excuses because Pacquiao lost to the better man. Read and listen to his own words: Pacquiao, as always, was gracious in defeat. “Congratulations to Ugas and his team,” said Pacquiao. “Thank you to all of you. I want to thank all my fans and the media. For many decades, the press, media and boxing fans were always behind us, supporting us. That’s why we’re here, why we became popular and why we accomplished our dreams as a fighter. “I am a fighter outside and inside the ring. I look forward to returning to the Philippines and helping them during this pandemic.”
