Hi, I’m confused as to whether I should be stepping with my jab or pushing of my back leg when jabbing. I ask this not only for single jab but fast double jabs as well, should I be stepping quickly or pushing quickly. The problem with pushing fast is I get out of balance. What are some footwork drills for synchronisation with fast combos?

    Push.
When you push you are more likely to bring your right foot with you than would be the case if you step with the left foot.
About your balance...I'm guessing that you probably have issues with it in general. And maybe you are looking to do too much with the push off the rear foot; it is not a big, sweeping move. Like all moves in boxing it is a minimal movement.

Ok, but doesn’t pushing with rear leg transfer weight to your front leg? And isn’t that bad because you always want weight on your rear foot so that there is more power in your cross?

I step with my front and rear foot immediately follows. You can also push with both legs in same time, it is like a little jump, minimal movement as grey said. I think pushing only with rear leg and jabbing could put you out of balance.

edit: I tried it, definitely you push with with rear foot when stepping forward.

You don't transfer the weight on the jab.
