Logic suggests Canelo destroys this guy inside 8 just like he did Saunders but i get the feeling it'll be much more competitive than were led to believe. Plant might give Canelo some issues early with his slipperiness and bait him for counters. He'll lock down on Canelo's hook and uppercuts and slip them frequently. He'll have to counter with his own shots and this would probably be the biggest task but he might even have good success in the pocket and show some unexpectedly superior infighting against Canelo. I don't know. Just my gut feeling. Even if he were to convincingly beat Canelo he wouldn't win on the cards anyway so no way would i bet on him.

In reality I predict Plant gets outworked over the fight, gasses mid fight and gets brutally beaten up while in survival mode over 12 rounds or gets stopped late in the 10th. But i just can't shake this feeling that Plant will go in there and suprise us. Canelo will probably shake off the feeling for me lol

Outboxing is one small step towards victory , a decision is what counts.

Jokes aside Plant doesn't have it in him to 9-3 Canelo because below that any Canelo fight can go "either way ", given that Canelo might land at least two flashy shots per round and there's no way Cinnamon isn't getting a benefit of doubt over ****ing Plant in swing rounds.

What if Plant comes in Super Elusive and Crafty and manages to stay out of range of Canelo's big punches? What if Plant comes in with a gameplan to compete over 12 rounds and stay out of trouble? Can he execute such a strategy to avoid big shots and land enough punches to give him a chance to win a decision? I could see Plant being totally committed and "in the zone" on the night and just being so mentally determined to go the distance and doing so in a way that wins him rounds. I cannot wait to see how this battle of the mind unfolds in November.

The main question is can Caleb Plant avoid making a big mistake that gets him hurt? And if he does make a mistake, what mistake will he make? Plenty of fighters have looked good against Canelo, won rounds against Canelo. But pretty much everybody he's fought always seems to make a big mistake somewhere along the line that gets them in trouble. Plant believes in himself and that's a lot, and I think he's capable of surprising a lot of people, but he has to make it happen on the night. Being capable of beating Canelo is one thing, actually putting it all together and making it happen on the night is another.

For Plant to win rounds, he has to avoid getting hit with those so-called "flashy shots" that win over the judges. He can't just land pitter pat shots that have no impact. He has to avoid getting hit with clean shots, by utilizing quick feet, well timed upper body movement and counter punching that is noticeable to the judges. He has to make Canelo respect his power and his skills. He needs to confuse Canelo with awkward movement and mix in some combinations on Canelo. The main thing is don't get caught with any big punches. It's easier said than done, but Plant has to believe he is capable of putting on the fight of his life against Canelo.

He will need to be on his bike for 12 rounds to do so

What if Caleb Plant grew wings, a horn, and changed his name to "Prancy-Pants the Dancing Unicorn?"

I mean, if we're speculating, "**** that ain't gonna happen!" lets at least make it fun.

Plant needs to be slippery and game. He has to be mentally sharp, he can't fight scared. He needs to be confident in himself and believe he can win.

If Plant grows a Tito Ortiz head which dwarfs Nelo's explosive head growth, it might make Cinnamon self-conscious and make him respect the bigger dome, Plant can use this to his advantage and outbox Nelo from rounds 1-8 and then gas for the last four rounds .

Now if the judges possess a fraction of integrity of Adalaide Byrd they'll not he$itate to make the right deci$ion .

What he needs are hands that don't break from connecting with air.

Plant is gonna be lucky if he sees the fifth round. I see nothing about this guy except some size that could possibly bother Canelo. He's a decent fighter but that's about it.

Plant will have to get some respect at some point in this fight by hurting Canelo with something.

With what? A folding chair? A baseball bat? Perhaps he'll be allowed a gun?

Plant would have been tough for 2013/2014 Canelo, but now you need power.

I think there's a chance he can run it close enough to generate controversy though. I also wonder if he will have the friendly judging he's gotten in the past, now that he's away from Eddie's warm embrace.

Plant hasn't fought anyone close to Canelo's level. His best wins are against a 50 year old Truax and against a gatekeeper in Uzcategui. The rest of Plant's resume is journeymen and club fighters. Canelo is in another universe than anything he's been in there with. Plant get beat up and KO'ed in 6.
