Shannon Briggs still in shape. He should have one more payday.

He's still in great shape. And even though it's a few years back, he looked not bad in his last fight against Zarate. It's been 5 years. He will be 50 this year.

Oliver McCall has still fought two years ago at the age of 54. At the same age as Briggs he fought in Poland and beat the local heroes Zimnoch and Rekowski. These were big events.

Briggs is in much better shape. Want to see him against Szpilka. It's an easy fight for Briggs, KO is guaranteed and he could make a last relatively big payday he won't get from anyone else. Those events in Poland are usually big for the local audience. There would be also some drama before the fights between those two.

Why not, if a TBE can fight a idiot without a boxing career & a MMA fighter why can't Briggs fight a real boxer ???

All this talk about how he's in "great shape" is a bit of a red herring considering that the guy can't last any longer than 2 rounds. His aerobic capacity is embarrassing.

I hope he doesn't come back, because it would be a shame to see him get damaged.

I always liked Briggs. He was funny and marketable, and his style (completely stationary, throwing an occasional, massively powerful counterpunch, and hoping not to gas out) brought something unique to the Klitschko era division. You never knew what was going to happen in a Briggs fight. He was kind of an experiment about how far you could go in heavyweight boxing by neglecting your stamina (admittedly, the asthma didn't help) and bulking up for more power.

His fight with Lyakhovich was very exciting despite-- perhaps even because of -- the long stretches where he did nothing but stand there. Would Briggs land his punch? Would Lyakhovich get arrogant and attack too vigorously? And the ending was a classic.

He can't pass a drug test. That's why he looks like that. He was supposed to fight Oquendo a couple years ago for a vacant WBA belt and failed the prefight drug tests. He is all juice. It would probably take him years to **** clean at this point. He is just a 'hype man' these days.

Having a six pack and being in shape are not the same thing.
