Not only does this clip display Patterson's well-known handspeed, but also his underrated finishing ability. Vicious stuff!

Those left hooks were perfect. Makes me wonder how he lost to Johansson in the first fight given what he did in the following two

Floyd just got caught. Johansson had devastating power in that right hand and it landed firmly and crisply on Patterson's chin.

    Revenge!!
Ingo himself brutally knocked Patterson out in their first fight, knocking him down like 6 times !!
To come back from being ko'd to give him the business like that deserves some respect.

What did the ref expect to happen when he was counting? Ingo would spring up at 9.9?

    Jesus wept.

The referee in that fight was Arthur Mercante Sr, he once said after officiating that fight on June 20 1960, in Madison Square Garden, that he really believed that Ingemar Johansson was dead after taking that very lethal left hook in round 6, because as Ingo lay there, blood was streaming from his mouth, and his leg was twitching. Clearly a sign of brain disruption, leading to a Convulsion. Everyone appeared to be concerned. It goes to show that a calm and docile individual often has hidden fury inside of him, awakening a sleeping giant.

I recall some freaks on here insisting Ingo's sharp decline after the Patterson Trilogy was because he always sucked and it was implausible these fights shortened his prime....

I really believed that Ingo could have continued his career, just a change in his defense would have done him well. It is just that he awakened the fury of a fighter that was overprotected, underconfident, that was self propelled to regain his title and his dignity as a man in 1960.
