Something nobody is considering what if Canelo suddenly looks past it?

Canelo is only 31 years old. So decline should typically be out of the question and off the table. Usually fighters start to inevitably decline at 34 or 35.

But Canelo turned pro at 15. Fighters usually decline after 15 years as a pro or after age 35. Whichever is first.

Just saying. It wouldnt be shocking in the least if Canelo just seems "off".

I think with his 'supplements' and work ethic we will not see a decline for a few years yet

He has a lot of mileage, but he lives a clean live and has a great team behind him

In my opinion if he loses it won't because of him being off for a few years yet. Fighting in heavier weight classes will help him too, as I find it harder for the lighter guys to stay in their prime, as they rely so much more on their speed and reflexes

I'm not expecting canelo to do a roy jones just yet

I dont expect him to do Roy Jones yet either. But remember how Pacquiao was never the same after the Margarito fight? But didnt go totally washed either. That was 15 years into his career at age 31.

The human body only has so much mileage on it.

Pacquiao was in so much more wars and was fighting WAY above his weight class

I do see what you mean. 31/32 could be the beginning of a fighters decline, but with great fighters it is more subtle and harder to detect

Floyd was never the same either after he originally retired after Hatton. He didn't have the same legs or reflexes when he returned. We didn't notice it at first because he was fighting older guys in marquez and Shane, but there was a little decline

With the amount of peds he takes he still has at least 20 prime years left in the tank.

Anything is possible but it would have to be a pretty dramatic drop off. Now those types of drop offs happen, but for the most part, are not the norm. Usually guys start slipping here and there and people (especially dialed in boxing fans) start noticing it. Guy is a little slower than usual, starts struggling with guys he should be putting away, starts having "off nights" more and more often, seeing the openings and not being able to pull the trigger is a huge red flag IMO, etc.

Nothing wrong, clen too had selected opponents from this point.
I really wish to see how he will box when he will be 38 y.o and without 1 win in last 3 fights vs lad larger than he is.
    Payment for Mosley fight. :p
Nice might be see how he will box when he will be 36 y.o, to compare him vs Floyd Jr.
See how well he will perform when he will be 35 y.o to get opportunity how " much " better this idol was than GGG.

Damn and Canelo fans are bragging about " LOL, GGG had lost on cards ".
Okey, boxing is for purpose when one is down or had lost on cards.

Canelo does have most rude fanbase in forums while for me A.J is more legit than Canelo and always will be and even Wilder too.
They did not had catchweight with interesting clauses for their title fights and therefore they likes me better than Clen.

He hasn't taken a lot of abuse over his career. I don't think he'll drop off until his reflexes start to go. Late 30's to early 40's.

I think itd be a bit surprising, to be honest.

Seems to be ultra disciplined, always honing his craft, stays in shape, doesnt take any punishment in fights, and his style isnt overly reliant on athleticism.

Usually these are the contributing factors for premature aging in boxing, and none of them apply to him.

I think he should stay prime for another few years.

he practically had no amateur career so the wear and tear on the body hasnt accumulated to the same degree as other fighters his age who had extensive amateur records. you could say his first 25 pro fights was his amateur career.

I think you might get your wish. He's seemingly always in the gym and has nothing else going on.

I get the sense he feels competitive with Floyd, Manny, GGG, and ODLH. He wouldn't want to be the youngest retiree in the group.
