Another absolutely dreadful thread. Please stop trying to reduce boxing down to some form of Top Trumps.

No, it isn't. AJ fanboys are delusional maniacs who constantly overstate and overrate everything about him. He has as rudimentary a skillset as it gets. He's not awful, but nothing spectacular either. Without power AJ wouldn't even be Malignaggi-esque, Paulie's got far more wrinkles in his game, and he's faster. AJ is around Jessie Vargas level.

The pnt of the thread is AJ's boxing style, which the video calls awkwardly, simplicity and effective, whereas the title should be, simple and effective, because he has power to fall back on. Without the power... he's a basic *****.

So your saying someone who’s unified and has the best resume in the division has done so just because of his power? Yeah ok

YEAH, that's exactly what I'm saying. Because Heavyweight as a division is pure dog****, so he's king of a dungheap... bully for him. I mean, the great ultra slick Gypsy King Tyson Fury came within a dog's ball hair of being KTFO by the most unskilled fighter in the sport, and many refs would've waved that off. What a division!!! AJ has wins over senior citizens like Povetkin, Wlad, Takam and Pulev. One of which would've KO'd him had his idiot brother not told him to take his time. Then AJ went and lost by No Mas to a chubby midget, who came within a dog's ass whisker of being brutally KO'd by a moribund Chris Arreola. Whyte and Parker, two of AJ's best wins, went on to both get gifts over the easily schooled by Usyk shell of a man in Chisora, then Whyte went on to get violently KO'd David Price style by one of the seniors AJ faced. Sending the value of AJ's Whyte win crashing through the floor. But no, that doesn't raise Povetkin's stock, because he was coming off of being mauled and getting a gift draw against a former Cruiserweight in Michael Hunter. But hey, Whyte avenged that, thanks to Alexandeathbed Covidkin stupidly agreeing to take the rematch when he could barely make it up with weigh in stage steps without keeling over. When the best in a division face each other, and all lose to one another, that's no big deal, when the "best" in a division are losing left and right to past it shot to hell fighters and club fighters. Maybe it's because that division kind of sucks.

I tend to agree... But I'm not talking about what sane/educated views might be, but what the general narrative around here is likely to be.

I tend to think he's the best, certainly on the eye he is, but I'd find it difficult to argue for it beyond that - Joshua's resume is quite a bit stronger (assuming he beats Usyk that gap will only increase in my eyes, too) even if I would agree that Fury probably wins H2H.

And FWIW boxrec don't have Fury on the list at all right now - not that I place much trust in their rankings in any case.

As well as being extremely athletic with improving ring generalship and boxing ability. A guy who rises to the occasion. You cannot be an Olympics Gold medal winner and World Championship silver medalist as an amateur without boxing ability.

I get it you just hate the current heavyweight division. Even Luke Tyson Fury does not escape criticism.

He had more boxing ability as an amateur than Audley Harrison had, but he looked easier to hit in the olympics than he does now.

Oh now the Tyson name makes more sense, always thought his name sounded stupid but as a middle name it makes much more sense.

His defense is tight, look where his right glove usually is.

If his defense was truly tight, he wouldn't end up getting buzzed in every match.

Yeah, that's great. What's that have to do with the point I made? Also, I see you missed him getting buzzed by Parker, Povetkin and Pulev as well.
