What fighter took the most brutal beating. Only list major fights.

I would go with Muhammad Ali beating the snot out of Ernie Terrell. Ali had a grudge against Terrell because he kept calling Ali "Clay." With that vendetta in mind, Ali would proceed to beat the crap out of Terrell's face for 15 rounds. Ali could have easily KO'd him in 5 rounds but instead chose to keep Terrell up so he could beat him up. After every punch Ali would scream his infamous quote: "What's my name". Terrell was the heavyweight champ at that point. He was never the same after that fight. He went on to lose his next 2 fights.

    Bowe-Golota 2

Bowe did get some great punches in, but I've rarely seen a fighter look so helpless for so long without the fight being stopped. I think it scarred him right up to this present day.

It was a horrible beatdown, but I can't agree with you Ali could have knocked him out in 5. Terrell was so damn tough, Ali said himself that he couldn't knock Terrell out in the interview right after the fight, and when the fight's just ended and you're all mad at an opponent, if you say something like that, it's probably true. In addition to that, Terrell was not even hurt until the 7th, when he was most vulnerable, and actually surprised Ali with a good comeback in the 10th.

Tex was just getting warmed up.

Did love their postfight exchange when Larry came to Randall’s room:

Tex: Next time we’re fighting in a phone booth.

    Larry: I’ll call you.

True. Both fighters got hurt badly in that fight though, something that often gets overlooked.

There were too many horrible beat downs over the last 150 years to possibly label any single one as “ the worst. “ but one of the more recent bad ones was Mike Perez vs Magomad Abdusalomov on 11-02-2013. Perez pounded Abdusalomov into a coma that nearly killed him.

To this day Perez even says it haunts him..

Hard to beat Dempsey-Willard. Seems like that's a shoe-in. I will add a few though.

-Jimmy Carter v Tommy Collins - Collins down 10 times before it was stopped in the 4th round.

-Wilfredo Gomez v Derrick Holmes - Holmes down 8 times in 5 rounds and sustained a broken jaw.

-Mando Ramos v Chango Carmona - Ramos left the ring on a stretcher

-Rodolfo Gonzalez v Chango Carmona - Carmona leaves the ring on a stretcher

Rewatch the fight- keep an eye on the bodyshots Iran throws. He takes his legs before the stoppage.
