This is a good little piece on one of my boxing brothers. Michael Hunter jr, the realist, nicest dude in boxing. Like him or not, you gonna hear about him and the top guys will have to deal with him. https://www.*****.net/2021/09/02/heavyweight-michael-hunter-viral-future/
Triller offered whyte 3x more money then hes ever made. Whyte shamelessly turned it down. Dubois hunter is being worked on
I have no doubt he is as you say, but he needs to fight some contenders if he is seriously going to make an assault on the HW title.
Hunter has a good resume at HW. Kuzmin, Povetkin, Bakole, Ustinov, Kiladze. But his last two fights are huge disappointments. You would at least expect him to clean out the US HW scene. Currently i'm not interested in this guy despite being one of the few guys calling him a contender right at the beginning of his journey as a HW.
Signing with triller is the best thing that coulda happened to him. They will now be able to offer opponents career high paydays to fight mike.
Tell that to Mike Tyson. He's still banging on about how Triller are faking their numbers and didn't pay him. If that's true, it's unlikely they could/would pay Whyte $15-20m. As others point out Hunter needs to get back to fighting real opponents. Let's see if the Dubois fight gets made.
He was offered a chance become a mandatory challenger and to officially prove himself. He declined, and fought some bum instead for cash. It was a duck. Simple as.
If he wants to make money maybe. If he wants to become a contender building up some legacy...probably not. I was a big Hunter fan (you can search in this forum, i called him a legit contender years ago) and i lost interest in him. So wake me up and give me a shoutout when he faces a legit opponent for a legit title. As long as he's fighting guys like Wilson or the other guy he fought before i would rather watch some Amateur boxing events in my local gym than him beating up some low tier guys on an overpriced Triller PPV event. As i said i'm a Hunter fan but i can't support the current path. I think he built up some nice momentum with Ws over Bakole and Kuzmin + the close fight with a pre Covid version of Povetkin who knocked out Dillian Whyte. But he's losing the momentum big time. And people lose interest in him. If he just tries to make as much money as possible...okay...but he should just STFU and don't comment on anything. I think he said he turned down the Hrgovic fight because he got a better opportunity....well...boxing fans thought he would get an even better fight and opponent. Bull****. He was talking about the money. That was a joke man.
