This content is protected I'm not into women's boxing but Eddie was always talking about Claressa Shields and Savannah Marshall in interviews and raving about how good Savannah is. It seemed he also wanted to put women's boxing under his lockdown and he may have thought they'd always be there for him to sign in the future. Sky's new promoter have come along and snapped some up and coming prospects and the two established names in Marshall and Shields.
If Marshall & Sheilds continue to fight poor opponents on Sky then Eddie has some cover. However, if Boxxer are able to strike a deal, for them to face each other anytime soon, then that is very embarrassing for Matchroom.
I don't think he'll be overly fussed to be honest. He's got bigger fish to fry than Shields and Savannah... If anything he's probably aware that it's a fight which stands more chance of being made if Savannah isn't working with him and both girls are attached to same platform
Don’t how long Daniel Dubois has with Frank but wouldn’t surprise me if in future he ends up with Sky Boxxer !
It would only be a failure, if it doesn’t meet their projected sales target. We won’t know what that is, so even if it gets reported that it did 50k sales, that might be a success for them.
Nah, that brief flirtation with Nicola Adams aside, Frank doesn’t seem that bothered with women’s boxing. The only way Hearn will care he’s not got Marshall or Shields or whoever is purely down to there being less opportunity to add more ‘world title’ fights to his ‘stacked’ or ‘absolutely massive’ cards for a tiny budget. Hearn is just using the women for cheap world title fights in the same way Warren was doing with the WBU 20 years ago.
Doubt Hearn will care. Despite the hype and propaganda, the interest for women's boxing isn't really there. Katie Taylor is about has much as anyone could have hoped for and when she turned pro we were told she would sell out stadiums, do massive PPV numbers and people would be dancing in the streets when she won a world title. In reality she headlined a show at York Hall, where most of the 1200 crowd had left by the time she came on, so Hearn then sent her off to America to try and see if he could sell her there. But that didn't really work as well as he wanted either and she is now just a slightly higher up the pecking order undercard filler and nothing more. Hearn now just uses women's boxing to fill up his cards on the cheap and maybe provide a bit of eye candy with someone like Ebonie Bridges. That is about it. Everyone involved with matchroom and DAZN knows this, but they will never say it out loud of course.
It's the same as womens football and any women sport no one really actually gives a toss, people just support it to be seen as woke and PC It was just and easy cheap card filler and he and Sky could play the #metoo we support women etc
