I highly doubt Holyfield was stronger than a 70's Foreman. You never saw him get pushed back or outmuscled. This was consistent no matter which career you look at. Chuvalo was a very strong man who did lots of strength training and he got rag dolled. Norton was shredded with an impressive phhysique and got rag dolled. Lyle used to do 1000 pushups a day and couldn't outmuscle Foreman. Unless you think Holyfield was much stronger than all of them, I doubt he'd have more success.
Foreman was an animal really. His strength was MILES above his size even tho he was certainly no midget.
After rewatching and being in awe of Holy against Douglas, I like to think that. I think he could...as long as he doesn't turn Warrior and try to slug with him. Holy was out on his feet three times during the fight with old man Foreman, he said that himself. Younger Foreman was quicker, and could take a very good shot. If Holy stays away, uses his feet, he stops prime Foreman in 7. Unfortunately, it's doubtful he would. As soon as he tries mixing it up with George it's pretty much over, he'd get terribly punished. Foreman in 5.
The older Foreman had a better chance vs Holyfield than than Zaire Foreman. The Foreman of Zaire was reckless and did'nt measure his pace. Ali tired him out by employing a rope a dope strategy because thats the only strategy an over the hill Ali could employ and still have energy to take it to Foreman in the latter half of the fight. Holyfield would'nt have to use a rope a dope strategy, he would use more of a shoulder roll strategy to take the sting off of Foreman's wild shots. I rate Holyfield's Stamina better than Ali's at those stages, so yes, any version of Holyfield pre-Tyson, stops the Foreman of Zaire. A better question is how would the Ali of Zaire do vs the Foreman that fought Holyfield??? I say that Foreman had a terrific jab, and gameplanned 100X better than the Foreman of the 70's. His boxing intelligence was superior to 70's Foreman. Imo the Foreman who fought Holyfield either stops or clearly decisions the decaying Ali of Zaire.
7 pages and the myth of Holyfield continues..... Holyfileds ENTIRE rep is made of defusing a washed up post prison who fought a grand total of half a dozen rounds in half a decade while sitting in prison...............it is beyond me why anybody believes that you get better or stay the same in a long jail stint...........reality, it aint happening, you are done. Holyfield is 1-2 against Bowe, many argue he is 0-3 and was beaten by a fat Bowe...........1-1 with glass chinned Moorer.........0-2 against Lewis.........1-1-1 against Heavyweight disgrace Ruiz........that aint the stuff of legends, again, the Tyson wins, the Tyson wins......thats it. Holyfields ko power is a myth too, he barely got a standing tko in the 11th hour against Tyson and couild not keep Moorer on the mat in the rematch who a fossil stopped with ONE punch...anybody with a pulse would have stopped the morbid obese Douglas too........any other upper level or sometimes bum he could not put on the mat for good...........conclusion Holyfield could never ever rely on his power to change a fight, the proof is in the pudding. Foreman was a ACTIVE undefeated fighter on a terror winning streak, Holyfield is not facing the shell of Mike Tyson, he is meeting a ready willing and able fighter on top of his form in Foreman. 208 pound low PED or 217 high PED's aint gonna make a difference because Foreman will be forcing a pure fire fight and Holyfield wanting or not will oblige, there aint gonna be a fan man getting him a breather or his opponents pregnant sigificant other collapsing etc.....he will be stopped And that is that
@sauhund II Foreman lost to Jimmy Young. Foreman will gas before that. As for Foreman's chin, combine exhaustion with Holyfield's non-stop barrage and you will put Big George on the deck. Holy could probably have slugged with him too. Foreman was slow and punched wide. Easy countering opportunities for Holyfield.
That was years after Zaire ...........and Jimmy Young is the polar opposite of Holyfield as far as fighting is concerned. I know this is all news to you as a total novice.
So ****in what? Foreman was still destroying people left and right. Holyfield will have fun countering the **** out of slow, predictable Foreman.
You obviously didn't watch Hoylfield vs Lewis. It was a pretty tactical fight. Neither Lewis nor Hoylfield were trying to rough each other up or outmuscle each other. For the record Hoylfield said fat old Foreman was even stronger than Lewis and Bowe. Food for thought.
I dont know why he is overrated he never was impressive he was slow and sloopy all he had was good at cutting the ring shd hit hard but never was effective so took mutiple shots to get the job done its mutiple people who punched better with more effective punches
As far as Bowe and Holyfield go, there's one area where I might agree with you. It's circular to rate Holyfield high for beating Bowe. Bowe got his position in the first place for beating Holyfield. There's not much else on his resume of that quality.
