It looks the idea is to keep doing this fight until the Marciano backers lose interest, and we get left with a ridiculous circle jerk of Rocky haters admiring how "big" Tua is...like this worthless thread ended up being.
I understand this, but even on that basis they are not much bigger than guys like Layne, Louis and Walcott. Also by no means every cruiserweight is a 210lb monster. Let's not forget that Tua himself lost to a future light heavyweight in Chris Byrd. Not a guy who outgrew the division, but a guy who beat him, then moved down to light heavy. Now you could argue that he had bulked up to 210 or whatever, but he didn't beat Tua because he was handling him in the clinches. He just outboxed him, and Tua had no answer for it. Now do you really believe that guys like Molina and Breazle, would have beaten Michael Spinks, or James Toney, even if they weighed 190lbs? If you want to play teh anme dropping game, then Rocky Marciano beat Joe Louis. At least Louis was relevant in the division when Marciano beat him, which Ruiz and Moorer were not when Tua beat them. To be brutally honest, Tua's only elite win is Ramhan, which was itself not entirely satisfactory. The only metric on which Tua's opposition measure up, is on the weighing scales. Be careful not to place too much value on this!
I would give Tua more chance against Marciano, than I would against somebody like Walcott, I will give you that.
Byrd used his height and reach on top of his movement to the fullest extent against Tua. Marciano is not Chris Byrd. He'd stand and trade and get laid out. And no because Michael Spinks at 190 is better than the light heavyweights that exist today. James Toney also has an great and his style didn't rely on bullying people or marching forward and punching their head off like Beterbiev or Marciano. That being said Molina and Breazeale are journeyman so that doesn't matter. Tua was a world level fighter and would eventually find Spinks and demolish him like he would Marciano. James Toney is an interesting case, because in that instance Tua's style is made to order for him in addition to Toney having a cast iron chin. It's different from putting Tua against Marciano or Floyd Patterson. I don't know about 190 Toney beating Tua because even heavyweight Toney was getting bullied by the likes of Holyfield in spots, and Tua would be landing absolute bombs on cruiserweight Toney and has the power to hurt him badly, because we saw that Samuel Peter even hurt a heavyweight Toney. And Tua was more refined with his combinations and hit ever harder. but yeah Toney at heavyweight for sure would win a decision.
As stated in my previous post, I would give Tua more chance against Marciano than I would against Walcott, and for the reasons that you have listed. As for Marciano, it comes down the the question of whether Tua really is this invincible wrecking machine, who cannot be beaten by somebody who stands in front of him. A lot of people are obviously convinced that he is. For my part, I am not so certain.
Walcott has the style to school Tua, but Walcott also lost almost half his fights. Walcott on his best day would definitely beat Tua
Lewis used height and reach to beat Tua. Byrd beat Tua on the inside. Watch the actual fight. Byrd was always an infighter. Anyone who cares enough about the subject to argue about it on message forums would know this. Fatboy was getting stunned by body shots from Byrd, one of the few good in-fighters Tua ever faced. @Bah Lance What does Byrd have to do with Marciano? Byrd is bigger, a southpaw and more talented. Marciano was not a slick fighter.
It seems you didn't watch the actual fight. Because those are highlights, not the full thing. Byrd outboxed Tua in rounds 1-5 by moving on the backfoot while slipping Tua's left hooks, jabbing, hitting him with left hands constantly and pivoting into a right angle around him several times a round. Byrd usually blocked Tuas combinations and snuck to the right when he got caught in the pocket with Tua though they did exchange a couple times in round 5. This content is protected This shows that Byrd nulified Tua in the pocket and picked him off at mid range while slipping a left hook before moving around him. Byrd in the later rounds rolled Tua's shots and countered in the pocket and/or moved in and out of range, every time either that or nudging Tua away, not letting Tua settle with his own counters immediately. Heres are some videos that show that This content is protected This content is protected Keep in mind this occured in spots, like i said if you watch the entire fight you'll see Byrd usually blocked Tua's combinations instead of exchanging or slipped to his right out of range whether he countered or not Marciano does not fight like this. Byrd was legit on the backfoot all night besides the end of round 10 making Tua lead and fought off the ropes in spots. Byrd is also a southpaw and is far more slippery and quicker than Marciano which is why he could afford to blitz him in range and not get hit. This content is protected Here is another amazing example of Byrd exchanging with Tua off the ropes, slipping and rolling with his hooks and countering with flurries in the pocket with quickness far surpassing Marcianos handspeed. Because thats how Byrd fights Marciano would eventually get clipped staying in range against Tua. Byrd also had 30 pounds on Marciano against Tua. Ergo he didn't get manhandled on the ropes.
Don Cockell was able to land on him come on, if hes excellent defensively what are Pep, Whitaker or Benitez literal gods? Some men who are 190lbs can hit harder than 250lbs agreed however no 190lbs hits harder than Tua period.
