Who wins? I think this could be a really great fight. With Barkley's Stamina, chin and heart. I think he could last with Hagler for 12 rounds IMO. The fight would probably be similar to Hagler v Geraldo. Both of them trading but in the end, Hagler is clearly the winner. Although I don't think is kinda be a competitive fight, I feel like Barkley's puncher style would blend well with Hagler's style which results of a great clash of style
I think Barkley would hang tough and maybe see the end, but I can't see him beating Hagler. Maybe if they gave Iran a metal chair and he hit him while the referee distracted Marvellous with a selection of Belgian chocolates, IDK.
Good matchup actually. Would depend on when they fought. I think Hagler wins but it's not easy, Iran coiuld definitely go the distance.
I wonder what this looks like in say late 1987 … Hagler decides to keep fighting to get a rematch with Ray and picks Iran as his next opponent. Iran is on a pretty good run with a string of wins including a split over James Kinchen and a stoppage of Wilford Scypion. He fights Marvin instead of Sumbu Kalumbay.
I believe on April 6 1987, Marvelous Marvin Hagler's WBC Title was at stake, not the WBA and IBF Title, when he defended his undisputed World Middleweight Title against challenger Sugar Ray Leonard. Iran Barkley was one tough contender, stopped Thomas Hearns, only to lose to Roberto Duran, proving that styles make fights. The Marvelous one would circle Iran, peppering him with his southpaw right jab, scoring with brisk combinations. Hagler's Iron Jaw has been tested against the likes of John The Beast Mugabi and Vito Antuofermo. Marvelous has outstanding stamina as does Barkley. Close contest early, but Hagler pulls away to successfully defend his title by unanimous decision.
Hagler via TKO in 10. He picks Barkley apart with his superior technical ability, until Barkley begins to fade from the punishment he is taking round after round, while putting up a praiseworthy effort (as he always did).
