People need to take Benn for what he is. He’s young, he’s got a lot to learn, he’s learning on the job and getting better. He doesn’t look to me like he will be some sort of superstar or even a world champion but even without that or the family name it looks as though he will forge a decent career for himself.

Don’t buy in to the self indulgence from him or the over hype from Hearn and Matchroom and just take his career at face value.

Right now if I was guiding him it would be a massive AVOID Avenasyan.

    I don't mind Benn.

Been a lot of cringe scenes since matchroom took over my tellybox, par for the course nowadays.

Bellews "Spongebob Squarepants" moments is up there for me, along with Dillian Whytes "Lets go" shout.

If the hype is real let’s have him in with Avenesyan, and if it’s not let’s tone it down. Happy with either

Agreed, he's the biggest bellend in boxing hands down, can't wait to see him ironed out.

Twentyman hits the nail on the head for me. At the end of the day he’s in there to make money and he’s not going to make that money by saying anyone half decent beats him and he’ll never be a world champion…

He’s improved massively from where he was, which I rate. He needs to be matched carefully while he continues to improve and let’s see. Personally I think someone like McKinson would beat him (though probably get screwed on the cards), let alone Avanesyan…but he’s got time to improve and he is generally a good watch.

Once Benn meets a good quality puncher or counter puncher who is prepared to have a go for 10-12 rounds he will get demolished.

For me he is currently at the same level as someone like Jonathan Thaxton when he went on his good run until Emanuel Augustus burst his bubble.

Matchroom are doing a great job in matching Conor and building him into a future PPV fighter, but he is not anywhere near as good as he thinks he is and I'd be surprised if he actually gets close to the level he thinks he can.

To a certain degree it's similar to Nigel before he boxed Watson, Conor has the same self-belief and arrogance that his father had back then. Conor, though lacks the get out of jail free card that his father had with the power he generated, the Anthony Logan fight is a great example.

Having said that I fully expect Eddie Hearn, Matchroom and DAZN to successfully navigate Conor's career to PPV status in the next 18 months.

Yeah, if he had Ava in his last fight, he had been finished in distance.
I suspect that this had been ruled as NC or DQ for Ava cos this is next big cash cow.
He is not Nigel and NEVER will be like this.
    Surname= sales.

Benn can be cringe and lacks self awareness but you can’t criticise what he has done so far in his career since the Peynaud fight.

Let’s be honest, he has succeeded most of our expectations and has demonstrated genuine power.

As Scissors said, ignore his self promotion and hype, that’s his job! The improvements he has made in the ring are clear to see.

Previously I wasn’t all that concerned about watching his fights but now I go out of my way to watch it because he is exciting in the ring. Says it all.

Agree except I'm not so convinced about the genuine power part. He looks the part but Granados didn't seem fazed by anything Benn connected with.

I don’t think that detracts from Benn’s power. Garcia only man to stop Granados and even then Granados was stopped on his feet. Garcia landed an almighty left hook bang on the jaw in that flurry that led to the stoppage and even that didn’t floor Granados.

From what I’ve seen I think Benn carries legit power at 147 especially given that he is relatively small at 147.

Regarding a smart matchmaking winnable fight against a “name” if I was Hearn I’d make a huge offer to Broner to fight Benn. Broner is totally done and doesn’t throw punches so it’s an easy winnable fight and would gain Benn some exposure Stateside. The promotion would be sublime too because Broner is a fool. Could easily headline a show at the O2, such an easy sell and Hearn would just need to fork out a big purse for Broner. Would be worth it as an investment IMO.
