Good point, but Usyk is great on the back foot too. I can see Usyk landing in between AJ's punches, slipping, ducking and moving. This will not be a plodding Ruiz from the 2nd fight. Usyk's versatility and probably the best legs (movement) in the division are his greatest assets. Will he and can he take some bombs from Joshua? Hopefully his defense keeps them away but I've seen him get clocked with right hands from lesser opponents. Great match up.
Another thing is do you think AJ will have same power with his weight loss ? I don't think so. He will be weaker than usual
If he does have very good gas tank he might keep out of range Usyk and score rounds with jabs, why not. He will have excellent and very expensive training camp and after this pre fight training camp under belt. Yeah, might happen that he will score even on honest cards if he will have good gas tank and discipline. He does have enough serious reach advantage and also is very strong even for top shape lads with 250 lbs weight not only for smaller Usyk. For Usyk I think most preferable scenario might be to counter AJ and engage with him: hit his arms, shoulder when he throws, aim for temple and liver, floating ribs and temple, ofc also jaw. If Usyk will not be willing to engage and close distance, I think by 60% he will get clipped and stopped by A.J. Being on bike will not help him to get nod on cards. If he wish to win, he should go for KO win here with 0 doubts. Hardest fight Usyk till today had was vs Briedis. Briedis looks that after 2014 th was more like to Money Floyd cos even then he had some fights postponed due hand surgery. He is very hard punching and strong for his size lad who after this looks that more had turned into sneaky counter puncher who is skilled to set traps. Usually does not press for KO if he thinks that he might win on cards. He might had mauled Usyk till half death in clinch if had decided to go for this. LOL, ofc bad game plan to outbox Usyk and fool him. Usyk was disciplined and scrapped razor close win here. A.J will be larger, less sneaky and will not set rows with traps. He will have very usable reach advantage vs Usyk ( this will be something new for him in pro ranks vs elite ). It does matters a lot here. Will see, some chances for Usyk there are, if A.J will made mistakes. Ruiz Jr without extra fat % I think easily might be 220-223 lbs at weight ins. I compare with Perez: 235 lbs Perez looked while 199 lbs Perez like a body builder cos had very low fat %.
Usyk for one point really is dumb: he maybe even trust Eddie and uses Papachenko: " excelleNt " trainer to pick for his own son weight classes and teach KO ppl ASAP, it is nightmare. From another point: I do not know all guys who Usyk does use for sparring. One is approx 265-270 lbs elephant a bit larger than A.J and with a bit better reach than A.J does have. Actually did not had so deep interest about his training camp. Loma should had fired his dad LONG ago cos he does not have brains to pick for his lad weight classes to compete in and allowed him to fight vs lad who was not able to make weight for weight ins. Not alone that I think Papachenko should teach olympic boxers. Not pro boxers.
He when was just up comer had sparred with Wlad for example. Ofc he does have $$$$$$$ to hire best available and very good team. Nutritionist, S/C and fitness specialists, boxing trainers, ofc might afford book good sparring partners and pay for this. By logic yeah, he does have A level elite training not alone pre fight camp.
Is Papachenko any good for corner advice? Loma needed a good corner against Lopez. IIRC Papachenko was not pushing his son after he gave the first four rounds away.
Loma should had fired him immediately after they had assumed that he might fight vs overweight opponent who instead of attempt to make weight started to rehydrate. I think Papachenko is worth to pay him very huge money if you are 14-21 y.o am who wish to get medals in Pan Am games, World Championships, Olympic Games. He there is damn huge money worth. For pro? Maybe he is good for Loma. Maybe. Maybe.
Papachenko fundamentals in pro boxing business are chip on his shoulder nothing more here. Dreaming about cards, not to use dirtyboxe when on you it is used ( Salido fight ), belts over all ( 135 lbs division for Loma ), then also ofc it is cool if client is fighting vs lad who is not only not able to make weight but even starts immediately rehydrate?( Salido fight ). Is it cool if client who does have 3 belts fights with opponent who does have 1 belt without rematch clauses. It is F level for pro boxing AND had been confirmed multiple times.
Erm, Loma and Usyk are too of the most skilled fighters in the game, losing one fight doesn`t change that.
I don't mean skills here. Business attitude alone: to allow client fight vs opponent who will have serious weight advantage IF you can easily and with 0 problems to avoid this is one from business things. To use dirtyboxe if ref there is doing nothing and dirtyboxing is used on you is just one fundamental skill for survival. To have rematch clause if you have 3 belts and opponent 1 belt too is business skill. To drag someone up in weight class just cos more belts and more money too is risky. Actually not only Loma had performed not that impressive when he moved up in weight classes, I might tell the same about Oscar ( DLH) and Floyd Jr ( there also were serious problems with hand injuries, add moving up in weight class and you will get what stuff it was for him ).
