I feel like this might be DAZNs plan. Seen a couple of feedback emails where they ask about pricing for one off events or day passes. Maybe a slight pivot but PPV isn't going anywhere imo.
If any of Matchroom's boxers stay on PPV, DAZN UK will find it very difficult to maintain a decent subscriber base at £7.99 per month.
Noticed Hearn saying the Youtube market is now dead. Thought it would be seen as he's not involved anymore. Was the best thing since sliced bread when he was promoting it.
This content is protected Now we are getting value for our £8. Sandor Martin the only man to have ever defeated (checks notes) Kaye Prosper
Could not believe Eh Day Earn went on record stating that he thought DAZN charging £7.99 for basically one standard Sky Sports card per month was a bargain. He either thinks his cards are really the best ever or he simply does not care about conning people.
You guys don't seem to be getting the value or content of others. Here in Canada I think my subscription is 150 per year so may 90 quid. Don't follow the exchange any more but for that I get all premiership games, all champions league games, europa league plus they have the rights to all the NFL games so its the a good deal. I don't really watch NFL but the majority of the guys I know have it for the NFL alone.
If I were in Canada I'd be on that in a flash, but it reflects the value of those rights in that market. The UK sports rights market is one of the most lucrative in the world, especially for soccer. Premier League and Champions League in the UK command vast rights fees which are then translated into steep prices for Sky and BT Sport. A multi billion dollar industry. Those same rights in Canada aren't worth anywhere near as much. An equivalent could be if Dazn offered Ice Hockey matches from Canada. It would probably be very cheap to do so. The Canadian ex-pats and hardcore ice hocky guys here would be loving it, but it wouldn't drive many new subs.
Christ. I was talking to my mate about Dalton Smith the other day and actually said Sandor Martin would be a good test soon. He's too busy fighting a 4 weight world champion on 'No Easy Fights' DAZN it seems.
Have seen some massive boxing fans saying about how great the international shows are. I watch some of them to be fair. But to the average person for their £8 all they care about is British cards and potentially a monster show in the US. How many from the UK will tune into the Austrian and Spanish shows this weekend? 2,000 each?
2,000 if MOTD isn't on! I'm actually intrigued to see the Mexican cards they have talked about putting on. Rarely see any domestic Mexican fights but in my head they are all wars! haha
