To be fair a brawler like Collins was able to capitulate a pure boxer like Eubanks with his style. Not saying Eggington is near someone like Collins but it's not so clear cut. His handspeed and punch selection tonight were good.

Eubank liked to rest alot. Collins would use X10 more skill then eggington.

Fair point and not saying Eggington is anywhere near Collins but sometimes the brawler has his day vs the boxer. Still both fighters gave a lot of value tonight.

He was doing better when he tried to keep it long and stayed off the ropes but even when he fought toe to toe off the ropes he was having plenty of success himself.

Odd comment - do you mean prime Barker, the former IBF world champion, or current Barket eight years retired? Either way not a fair comparison to either of these active-but-not-in-world-contention guys, now. :sisi1 (but unfair in opposite directions)

GGG is something else at Middleweight. Has the punch resistance of a heavyweight and a great amateur and sportsman. Even now he's a top fighter.

Yeah. GGG and Hagler are the two best MW ever for me H4H.
Got robbed blind by the judges in both Canelo fights, had it 8-4 GG in both, if they fought 2.5 years earlier it would probably be 10-2 or even a shutout.

I think even now GGG knocks Eggington in 3 rounds but I would fear for Sam's life if he faced a prime GGG

I don't know if it's 3 rounds but Eggington's desire for a scrap makes GGG all wrong for him. GGG is a once in a lifetime talent.

That was a fantastic fight. I feel knackered just watching it. Both men came out winners, both showed immense heart, great conditioning and so much grit and bravery. Bravo.

I didn't score every round, was far too engrossed in the action, but my overall impression was Eggington edged it by maybe 2 rounds. He foolishly stood in close and traded, but he got his fair share of success there and when he took the fight long he was far more effective. It looks like he only remembers his corners instructions for the first minute and then the animal instinct kicks in and he goes to war.

Every round was very close and I wouldn't have had a problem with a draw. In some ways I was happy with the split decision, simply because it meant Jkitou went back with something for his efforts. Although it did seem a little wide.

Anyway the whole thing was immensely enjoyable after disappointments from Matchroom and Queensberry recently. Well done Mick Hennessey and your team and Channel 5 for getting boxing back on network tv. Most of all well done to those two boxers. An epic fight and one that should be in contention for FOTY, if not for the level, for the willpower and courage on display.
