Same here man. To carry on, doing what he did, at his age, is just amazing. Such a great fighter and what a character.
As good as Moore's performance is, it has to be remembered that Valdes was nowhere close to being a contender at this point. He had been hopelessly out of his depth in his last fight against Harold Johnson, and he would lose his next fight to trialhorse Billy Gilliam.
The man was so great that his HW record is better than modern elite heavies, which also says something about how shallow current divisions are.
And Valdes would lose the fight after that, a decision to Bob Baker. But he would bounce back impressively, landing in Ring's ratings at #4 with an upset win over Ezzard Charles a mere five months after losing to Moore the first time. Valdes kept his win streak going and rose to #1, holding that position before losing to Archie again two years later.
