Garcia will not bother to fight otherwise. Has a good side business so he doesn't feel the need to take difficult fights unless big money is available.
Yeah I might watch them but such a niche thing. The average person wouldn't class them as content I imagine
3 Brits fighting on a DAZN show in Austria tonight and literally nobody knows about it. Dalton is local to me and the few I know that want to watch don’t know when he’s fighting or how to watch.
Hrgovic has knocked his opponent down 6 times in 2 rounds in the main event in an empty football stadium in Austria Game changed.
Guys these events are literally televised tickovers for the local market. The Spain card and Austria card are for those markets. Just an added extra not the actual offering. it’s like Netflix and people moaning about money heist and Dark because they are foreign language. They are for those markets but simply available here if you want to do so. surely we have to give DAZN more than 3 months to judge it. Personal opinion is if the cards are on paper the standard of Warrington vs Lara, smith vs Fowler etc with Canelo thrown in. I think it’s decent value. the big issue I can see at the minute is the scheduling. Seems Matchroom are having a lot of difficulty nailing down dates and cards. Plenty of fights that are going to be crackers like Estrada vs Chocolatito etc. But I actually think they need to have more matchmakers as it seems it’s all pulling fights together onto ever moving cards. they need to finalise headliners and dates first then build the cards
I think the point is we have british lads filling out nothing cards abroad with about 500 people watching it.
On paper the Headingley card last week was a great night of boxing, so I signed back up and parted with my £8. I turned it on to watch Ebanie Bridges get her head boxed off, then you see Eddie Hearn wink at her as she walks toward the ropes after the final bell as if to say, “don’t worry, I’ve got this”. Then the proceeding and inevitable robbery. Maxi Hughes put on a good performance in the fight of the night. What an anti climax and disaster the main event was though. Josh Warrington has damaged DAZN’s brand right there if it’s to be believed what many on here have pointed out. I’m not surprised that thread got deleted it was damning to DAZN and there chances of success especially on the launch of their controversial price hike. Game not changed and I’m sure many will have since unsubscribed.
I half agree. It's reasonable to allow them some time to get full momentum. It's also clearly a very difficult moment for launching a pan national enterprise. Cricket just lost a big test match, footballers are struggling to meet international commitments etc. So cutting some slack seems reasonable. Finally, if the model does work it's good news for fans of a niche sport like boxing. However, at the moment it's working out as an additional £8 a month to watch far too many mismatches and tick overs and the problems with partial judging are also apparent. The Warrington fight itself was unfortunate but the subsequent spin and ditching of Lara left a very bad taste. When I heard the DAZN journo supporting this I nearly cancelled there and then. As consumers we probably get the boxing we deserve. I know McKenna and Eggington aren't going to be troubling the HOF soon, but I had far more enjoyment from their scraps than the DAZN offering the week before. I'm getting to the point that the dodgy cards and partial refereeing is eroding my enjoyment. Maybe that's not a DAZN specific problem, but they're not tackling it either.
Hearn keeps justifying the move to DAZN and price rise by mentioning the Smith v Fowler card. 2 years ago Smith v Eggington (who is a similar level to Fowler) headlined a Saturday Fight Night card with Fowler v Fitz as the co-main. It’s just a way of brainwashing the casuals. Smith v Fowler could have easily been done on Sky. I’ve heard a few whisperings of Devin Haney v Lee Selby ffs. It’s certainly not Game Changed.
100% Said before fight like Smith v Folwer were pretty much normal cards now its sold as some sort of gift to fans. Boxing is ****ed at the moment.
