Which boxers achieved a good amount of success but had little or no defensive skills at all? There are some boxers whose defense looks suspect at first sight but they're actually not bad at all like GGG who rolls and catches punches well despite taking some flush on the chin or Chavez who bobbed and weaved to avoid his face from getting through meat grinder while keeping on that intense pressure and fighting on the inside. I was rewatching some fights and the fighters who stood out for the lack of their defensive skills but still were pretty successful were Iran Barkley, Miguel Cotto, Antonio Margarito and George Foreman .
He was very crude but his style worked well coupled with his power, haven't watched too much of him apart from his fight with Roman and a Hanzagod highlight .
Agree on that count, flurries like a hyperactive hummingbird and stays in the pocket after finishing his combos, his chin does him no favors too however that makes for good highlight reels.
His first fight with Nana Konadu is insane. Five knock-downs in eight rounds. Every fight is a war, as that's just how he fought lol
RJJ. From a technical standpoint point he was terrible, but his reflexes made it work for him. Once his reflexes were gone, he started getting clipped on a regular basis.
He did that for more than a decade. His defence was spotless. Controlling the distance is the most important facet of defence, and nobody was better at it than Jones.
Roy was a freak. But, technically he was flawed. He was able to get away with it because of his reflexes. Not too many guys can stand in front of a pro fighter, hands down and not get lit up Roy did. You are correct. Nobody touched Roy for a decade.
For how good his offense is, GGG was never hard to get some jabs in on. His defense is actually underrated, but still not great for a p4p fighter.
