Definitely better to be a casual fan of this sport, but sometimes it's hard... In an ideal world I'd get an alert a week before a big fight was happening and that would be that. Instead I'm reading more days than not about "updates" to certain fights that will probably never happen. Seems like the behind the scenes bull**** has come front and center and now dominates the daily life of the sport. Fans are becoming more knowledgable in contract law and TV rights than they are about the sweet science. Still not bad enough to say goodbye. Boxing at its best still cannot be duplicated, and I don't see that changing any time soon.
True about Covid1984 but that doesn't explain why these freakshow fights are becoming increasingly common, why the top fighters are avoiding each other more and more and why the alphabet belt parasites are rapidly multiplying. I've been watching boxing since 1996 and this is without a doubt the worst it's been since then and Covid is not the principle driving force behind it all, the sport was moving in this direction long before then. Josh Taylor, Usyk, Hunter, Inoue and some of the other lower weight fighters from the far East and Latin America still have that old school fight anyone mentality but yeah they're certainly in a minority.
Boxing has been dying for years. It never dies though, never will. This circus act just now is frustrating though. Although I'd never want to see anyone hurt, the Paul brothers getting chinned by legitimate fighters wouldn't go a miss.
Boxing has been bad, for a decade at least. When people started realizing they could become millionaires cherry picking fights is when it became bad
There fans are guilty I think. They demand from boxer to have holy 0 otherwise he might be accused and called a bum. A lot of boxers with pro records like 7-0-0 are far worse then some lad who did not had fought overmatched bums and maybe does have 5-1-1 pro record. It is boxing, what customers ( delusional clients demanding next unbeatable idol ) had ordered they are attempting to deliver. Yeah, with 0 etc perks. Is pro boxing symbol of masculinity or war? If compare with caveman tribes era in stone age it is damn ancient dream. It is not enough close to homo erectus. It is sport ppl compare with pride and some kind of real h2h ability while for stone age caveman tribe luxury might be to use stone hammer and bats from wood etc & hunting on enemy in groups.
It all is a shambles, however if folk are willing to pay for these fiascos, they will continue ad infinitum. We even have supposed true fans of boxing saying that the verbals from Tyson Fury are entertaining, no it is not, Fury actually fighting is entertaining not the verbal diarrhoea that is uttered by his lips.
LOL. I never had cared what he is telling for social media or posting in internet. Fury likes me a lot but he fights so rarely now. He already had long interrupt after this Wlad fight and now again Fury turns into not interesting, boring not actual guy. He should to box in the ring, otherwise he will go too old quickly without enough high number of fights while he is talented.
that's stupid. Only one example, next rungvisai fight (no matter the oponent) is worth to continue watching boxing. And that's just an example. There are tons, TONS of talent out there to watch.
bro you know damn well its terrible right now I check this forum now like once a month and saw this thread to chime in Wheres the excitement dude? Stevenson, Ennis, Haney, Tank, Teofimo? They barely fight and when they do its like 50-1 favorites
It's not just about the money either - when you not only have fighters claiming to be ATG on the back of a resume full of cherry picks and bums, but also have people genuinely defending the insanity of such claims... It's just straight up indefensible, and it enables such fighters to continue refusing to fight genuine threats. We all know the kind of fighters I'm talking about here, whether it's the really obvious examples like Wilder or Tank just ducking the top fighters altogether or whether it's padding a resume with ghosts of top contenders (as much as I still think AJ has the best HW resume, there's some of that involved too!).
No stupidity is from you coming in a boxing forum crying like a little girl and still posting here, if you don't like it then ***** off
