The 80's lightweights were fun. No one huge standout but lots of parity and everyone seemed to fight everyone. Nice blend of stylistic matchups too.
While Mayweather has never been a throw-caution-to-the-wind fighter he wasn't always the don't-get-hit-no matter-what boxer he eventually became. His fights with Chico Corrales, Genaro Hernandez and others were some of the best examples of boxer-puncher performances. He was responsible defensively and aggressive offensively, throwing all sorts of punches in a variety of combinations. Those fignts were quite enjoyable.
Call me crazy, but I really like the 2000s heavyweight division, actually. You get to watch Wlad's long, slow march from a career in shambles, through all kinds of obstacles in a messy division (with lots of side-plots and zany characters along the way, from Toney to Valuev to Shannon Briggs), until he finally unifies a long-broken division. And he's basically a college sports science nerd, which makes it kind of funny.
