David Tua is my candidate here. Among more serious choices, I agree with Bowe - he has no resume outside of Holyfield fights and Evander was always wildly inconsistent at HW. Don't see how anybody can really say that Ali is overrated. He has much better record than any of your idols, unless your idol is Joe Louis.
They know ****. So a fighter who from 1961 until 1980 almost two decades, fought and beat just about every viable fighter and contender there was, ducking no one is overrated? Check out the ring heavyweight rankings from those years, and year after year you can name 6, 7, 8, 9 and one year even all 10 contenders at some point in his career that he’s beat. Absolutely remarkable, no heavyweight can come close to such achievement over such a stretch not even the great Joe Louis. Foreman, Liston x2, Frazier x2, Quarry x2, Patterson x2, Norton x2, Bugner x2, Lyle, Bonavena, Williams, Chuvalo, fair enough I thought Norton and Young beat him, but over such a stretch it would have been remarkable if he hadn’t got lucky a couple of times, he’s not the only great you can say that about. Then someone says “Ali by a country mile” you just despair. Like I say the naysayers know ****.
tbf, if you stopped a 100 people on the street and asked them who the greatest fighter of all time was, I bet most of the ones who had an answer would say Ali. He became a cultural icon. He's definitely overrated, like all the other heavies.
I know all about the culture icon, I was there. I’m getting down to the nitty gritty and talking about the hard facts of his resume and achievements over 2 decades. If he’s overrated every heavy is overrated.
Not the K brothers. I don't think the public even thinks of them outside of boxing circles (Germany and E. Europe aside).
Vitali Klitschko hardly faced a top 5 heavyweight, lost to two of them but is consistently ranked a "head to head monster" here and elsewhere, seen as a fighter who could outfight ATGs despite failing to prove he could outfight the best fighters of his own era. He's the definition of overrated. Wladimir, that might be a better shout, but I remember his being ranked above Roman Gonzalez in a decadal list at the end of the 2010s on BS - by a good writer too, which was absolutely horrifying. They're more visible. People just think about them more than smaller fighters, there's no getting away from it.
You obviously don't understand what overrated means. It means being rated as being way better than you actually are, which applies perfectly to Ali. It doesn't mean he wasn't a very good boxer, he was, but by no means is he the "invincible beast" some people think.

Well i'm certainly not going to debate whether or not Louis would beat Vitali in a fight here. But i'm very satisfied he's overrated versus what he actually did in the ring. That's beyond dispute.
Hardly anyone overrates his resume. For a long stretch of time the only guy who could beat him was his own brother. Compare him to the likes of Sonny Liston, somebody who is actually overrated.
Just put him on black and white celluloid. That will naturally make his opposition a lot better, see Liston, Frazier.
