Bridgerweight. Rolls off the tongue like peanut butter. Another excuse to charge sanctioning fees for fifty-eight different unicorn belts. That’s a hard pass from me.
I would go to this if it was on my side of town, cost $15 for a good seat, and I had nothing better to do that evening. For sure I would go to it if that were the case.
Not only did they create a weight class nobody wanted, but they are sanctioning a match for the title that is a rematch to a snorefest no one wanted, between two guys whose best days are behind them, one of whom has not made the "bridgerweight" limit in 13 years. I mean really, they couldn't have thrown some money at Gassiev, Briedis, or Okolie? Even Romanov, who did not impress, would at least be a new name, and should Wilder lose to Fury, it would position a somewhat intriguing Romanov-Wilder rematch in the pros. Just no vision here at all.
What do they need a rematch for? Their first fight was for the NABF/NABO belts at least, not like there's anything legit at stake here. Also, it's over 3 years since Jennings has won a fight.
Jennings hasn't won a fight in 3 years and has lost his last two fights. In fact he hasn't fought in 2 years since losing to Joyce.
