Watch the video I linked in post #103, that video breaks everything down pretty well showing Canelo's training techniques vs Ali's. I don't have to have witnessed Ali training in his day to know that the training methods that Canelo works on in the gym to develop his head movement and evasion techniques did not exist back in Ali's day. Ali was a brilliant defensive fighter, who at times showcased masterful head movement usually when dancing on the outside, but he had lapses like against Cooper and he was not as disciplined as Canelo is. Ali's elusiveness was based on his footwork and his dancing and use of the jab. The head movement was not central to his style like Canelo's is. Both were great at head movement in their own way, in their own unique style, but there's a difference between the way Ali used head movement and the way Canelo does. It's been ingrained into Canelo through modern training techniques, whereas Ali didn't have the luxury of modern training techniques to develop the kind of skills we see in Canelo. This is not a knock on Ali, but we can't ignore how much more technical and developed Canelo's head movement and upper body movement is.

The training methods Canelo utilzes didn't exist back in Ali's day. To what extent Ali worked on head movement in the gym may not be fully known, but it wasn't as much of a focus area as it is for Canelo, it certainly wasn't at the level that Canelo dedicates to developing head movement and evasion moves due to modern training methods. These modern methods simply weren't available back in Ali's day, that's not an assumption, it's a fact.

Don't ever compare Canelo to Ali or Lomachenko again. Lima's done more in the pros despite Canelo having more than twice as many fights and winning titles in more weight classes.

Canelo got a gift against Trout and GGG, and struggled against Saunders. Loma made fighters like Rigo, Walters, and Russell Jr. look like bums.

 

He will compare Canelo to God given the opportunity

But Canelo is more than likely better as Gods techniques are not very modern

I've already beaten bumnard in several debates regarding Ali because he doesn't like Ali, he doesn't listen so theres no need however if he wants to step up to the plate he very well can. I'll be right here

 

Ali got knocked down in 1963, he was not in his prime in 1963. He was still green and it was his 19th fight and he clearly wasn't as good as he was against Liston or Terell or Williams. He got better later on and those fights i mentioned after the cooper fight demonstrate his elite headmovment. Who was Canelos 19th fight ? A nobody im guessing and Cooper was known to have a powerful left hook. I don't think Canelo was green when he lacked a lot of head movement against Mayweather and got his head boxed off.

Even if you're not saying Canelo has better headmovment, it's not more advanced either

 

I think he was exactly in his physical prime. Not lesser, maybe just a bit not too enough experience. Yes, he had been dropped by guy who was approx 20 lbs lighter than he and this is reality.
Guy just should admit this reality and not live in dreamland.
While being dropped doesn't automatically means to be chinny, it is also balance thing.
Sometimes to get dropped might matter a lot for delusional fans and biased commentators but not for fighter. Like in fight Povetkin vs Whyte I , I do know that no one who had not served the ring does not have a clue.

While Ali from 60 ies had fought with guys like Patterson, who was approx 190 lber but he had faster hands ( while slower legs ) than prime Mike Tyson. He had won these fights vs Liston and Patterson and Pat was legit Olympic Gold medalist.
Me doesn't likes King's protege slow Ali from 70 ies who had to ate bombs.
While Ali from 60 ies was yeah, ATG boxer for ams and pros.

If Ali from 60 ies had been officiated and had advantages in business till level Clenelo does have after Mosley fight, then he had been looked as ATG NO1 with 0 doubts.

Ali from 60 ies was really very good for ATG. Clen is not ATG material till today.
