Good points about Fury I believe he basically is genuine about having serious mental health problems that temporarily curtailed his career but he also may have exaggerated it up to a point for publicity but either way he seems to be over the worst of it and on track again.

The version of Wlad that AJ fought was better than the version that Fury fought.
Going into the Fury fight, Wlad believed that his usual risk averse style, as it had been for the last 10 years, would be enough to beat Fury. Wlad lost the jab dominance battle early on and was scared to death to take the fight to Fury. Meekly losing a points decision.
By the time the AJ fight came round he realised that the old Wlad safety first approach would not be enough to win, and went in there aggressive, light on his feet, and looked great. Fury fans love to dimish the AJ win citing "Wlad was over the hill". Forget the age and judge the performance. Wlad was great that night and came within a whisker of beating AJ.

Wlad was great that night,he rolled back the years and brought danger and very nearly upset AJ

He knew there was no other way he could be that night

Finally when fury/joshua rolls round we will see on that night whos the better man, never going to see it anything but a fury win personally

But whoever gets it deserves respect

Your last few comments tell me that you actually don't know as much as you say about psychiatric disorders though. You've wrongly said he has adhd, you've then said people with psychiatric disorders shouldn't fight and then your reasons for that is that they can't afford to be punched in the head. Hence me taking the time to politely explain otherwise whilst at the same time trying not to come across as patronising or unintentionally belittle you in some way.

A Google will tell you that both Fury and Bruno have it. There will be plenty more. Wouldn't surprise me if Dave Allen has it. Perhaps Oliver McCall. My point is, having a psychiatric disorder does not mean you can't fight at the highest level, being punched in head isn't 'more' dangerous for them, unlike someone with a brain injury who can't afford even the slightest knock to their noggin.

McCall had a breakdown IN the ring.

Bruno had a breakdown post retirement.

Allen is just punchy and clearly daft anyway.

I'm talking a LEGIT psychiatric disorder in a top level boxers RIGHT NOW. Who has one?

Bruno has bipolar disorder. Fury has bipolar disorder...you know what, I could genuinely waste about 20 minutes plus digging out fighters who have said they have a psychiatric disorder but what's the point??? You will discredit it in some way anyway and I proper can't be bothered.

Believe what you like cos you will anyway no matter what I say.

"After over a year of heavy drinking, drug use and depression, Tyson Fury had a breakdown. A panic attack led him to the hospital, where he was officially diagnosed with bipolar disorder. During this stretch of time, Tyson Fury lost his boxing license due to failed drug tests."

https://www.turnbridge.com/news-eve...After over a year of,due to failed drug tests.

That was just a quick Google search. Tyson Fury has Bipolar, it can't really be disputed. What level of Bipolar he actually he has and how he actually manages it I don't think we'll ever truly know but he's got it. Reading a number of stories he tells and little insights that he comes out with he should absolutely no doubt be on medication to control his Bipolar, it's a condition, not a cold, it's not going away, you don't "beat it". There are tons of athletes with Bipolar, many yet to be diagnosed, it's not uncommon as it's not uncommon in people, go to a Bipolar support group and you'll find people from all walks of life in the room, it certainly wouldn't be a surprise to find people who are into or partake in combat sports,

No doubt Fury did have mental health problems and I think he's been brilliant raising awareness for the cause. Who better to show to men it's ok to reach out than an 8 foot tall tough as old boots heavyweight champion.

Only part I didn't like is his failure to acknowledge how much the drink and drugs caused the problems. If he didn't hit the coke so hard he wouldn't have spiralled so low. Don't care what anyone says, he was perfectly capable of saying no to that. Perfectly capable of not going on such massive benders after getting the huge purse from Wlad.

    Very true.

Also got to mention that Fury is much, much more entertaining than AJ outside the ring (even if it does mean he's economical with the truth). Joshua has got the looks and a (very well) manufactured image. Fury's public persona is all his own doing; his natural charisma, comedy, and the overall character he portrays is what has made him such a star. The singing helps!

For the sake of balance, there is one point massively in Joshua's favour - he fights regularly and defends his belt (and against his mandatories!).

I’ve no doubt he’s got genuine mental issues. I used to be friends with a guy who behaved very similarly to Fury. He also was diagnosed with Bipolar. I’m not sure if anyone else in Fury’s family suffers from it cos it’s usually a genetic disorder if I’m not mistaken.

Though I’m very dubious as to whether he donated a 5 million + purse to charity. I don’t care care how generous you are or how much money you’ve got you simply don’t just hand over 5 million dollars to someone lol.

There’s no disputing that Fury is clearly bipolar, watch any of the early IFLTV videos on YouTube and it’s obvious. He’s far more stable and obviously takes medication now.

My biggest issue with Fury is the mental health saga coinciding perfectly with his Nandrolone ‘suspension’.. The ban ends and low and behold, Fury is back and training.

He definitely didn’t. Mental he’s not been called out for it to be honest. Imagine if someone like Wayne Rooney was found to have lied about giving £5m to charity.

    @Jurgen

It is quite easy to separate the two opinions from each other.

Fury in the ring showing Boxing IQ and Fury speaking crap outside of the ring are not mutually exclusive to each other.

I am a fan of both AJ and Fury but to be drawn upon this question, I think AJ beats Fury. It would certainly 100% be Fury's hardest fight (and I dare say Joshua's but both for different boxing reasons).

Both have proved to be impressive inside the ring, Fury with his 2 away wins and Joshua showing balls, when still a green kid in reality at fight #19 given who he'd previously faced, in getting up off the canvas to beat a very motivated Klitschko by way of a 11th Round stoppage.

Rather than arguing the toss over silly irrelevant nonsense, we should be celebrating both in the same way we should, as footy fans, celebrate both Ronaldo and Messi.

Once they are retired, there isn't anything else around like them coming through with the same longevity either as Brits (Boxing) or Worldwide (Footy).

Excited for Saturday. AJ with either an early explosive finish in 3 or AJ with a late finish around R11. Depends on the tactics of both.

There's no did in it, he has them, Bipolar is a condition, it's with you for life, it's how you manage it. I can tell you as someone with very good experience of dealing with people with the condition that drink and drugs will do nothing positive for someone with Bipolar because of the way the brain reacts to them. I've watched people have a glass of wine and then become a mess even after a nights sleep, so imagine a few what a few whisky's and lines are gonna do, it can really affect you. He's not good for the stigma of Bipolar, people just think it's a happy one minute sad the next condition and it is absolutely not that at all. Fury talks endless nonsense when it comes to ho he deals with this, stuff that can't be applied to any of us, the guy is motivated by money, that's what gets him out of bed, that's what gets him out running and in the gym, there's absurd figures to be earned and all the professional help and life help he could ever need to manage whatever level of Bipolar he has. That's not an option for us. Has Fury ever been signed off work, thousands in debt with £300-£400 a month coming in and over a £1,000 a month going out in mortgage and bills and nobody to turn to for money? I can tell you that going for a run around the park isn't going to fix that problem. It's almost as if Fury has, intentionally or not, made mental health in boxing all about him, proof of this being the posts in here where it's just assumed that AJ hasn't had to deal with anything that Fury has. I could go on all day about this but I'll sign off with this

Bipolar - It's not curable, it's not a disease, it's a condition, you have to manage it through medication and lifestyle choices. It's not up and down, Charlie Sheen on a talkshow, Tyson Fury porky pies stuff, it's far more complex than that, you don't beat Bipolar.
