Does AJ punch hard enough? Yes he does. Does AJ invest everything into one punch like Wilder does?. No
Im surprised that NOBODY mentioned the KO against Kevin Johnson? AJ was the first to KO him. I know nowadays its easier to stop Johnson, but he is 42 years of age and has taken alot of punishment in his career. Vitali, Chisora, Fury, Ruiz, Dubois, Hrgovic everyone couldn't finish Johnson. Joshua did the job in 2 rounds. Im pretty sure AJ hits hard enough
You totally cant do this to every single power puncher, nah, this is a legitimate breakdown that smashes the illusion of AJs power, in fact if anything he probably punches more on the soft side. Great analysis.
He's not a 1 punch KO fighter, at least not on anyone who's big fighter, but he does have big power. Remember when he was a younger fighter he wasn't throwing a whole lot of straight right hands, he threw combinations, hooks, uppercuts etc. Joshua's value is that he has a variety of punches at good power. If you can only throw a straight right hand like Wilder, then you're a lot more predictable. Joshua can throw straight right hands, uppercuts and hooks. Just look at the straight right that hurt Pulev in round 3, and the uppercuts he landed. Look at uppercut that destroyed Wladmir.
Yeah, his power is average for an elite world level heavyweight. By which I suppose I mean it's impossibly, preternaturally good by mortal standards but, no, not, at least in one shot terms, up there with the very very best.
Let's see, Wladimir Klitschko who has been knocked down by innocuous punches several times... at the end of his career, weather-beaten, and that "legendary uppercut" did not even floor Dr Glass Chin. All right.
Peter did punch hard, and KDs are often influenced by things like balance. Peter hit Klitschko while he was leaning forwards, he fell and got up immediately. Truly iron-chinned boxers are extremely rare. Even so called iron-chinned boxers (Hopkins) have been knocked down by moderate punches.
All I said was that Klitschko has been floored several times before by innocuous punches, which he has been. That's it. The sum and substance of the matter is that nobody bangs on about the punches Corrie Sanders dropped Wladimir Klitschko with, as "legendary" and "iconic" punches, yet they put him over immediately. That "legendary uppercut" is, needless to say, overstated. Klitschko was gassed, already hurt and 41 years old. And the "legendary uppercut" still did not put him over. One has to laugh.
