Hello. How are you? I am fine.

What I want to do here is one of those dream boxing card type threads, a five-fight card, but with a bit of a difference in that it has to be proportional. Let me explain what I mean.

Most dream cards look a bit like this:
    LOUIS V ALI
    MARCIANO V FRAZIER
    LEANORD V ROBINSON
    HOPKINS V HAGLER
    OLIVARES V JOFRE

If this bizarre fantasy land were real though, this wouldn't happen...I know that makes no sense in its own way - but we're a forum that argues constantly about what type of gloves will be used in totally made up fantasy fights, so the culture is there a bit. What I mean is, there is no way, even in fantasy pugilist universe, that Marciano-Frazier is a supporting fight to anything - not even Louis-Ali. Leoanrd-Robinson can't be anything but main event. However, proportionally, maybe, arguably, Olivares-Jofre could be made chief support to that contest given the level of purses in 1960/70 era bantamweight divisions.

What i'm saying is you have to justify the different slots you have on your card. Fight five, the first televised fight, might be a ten-round routine dust up for one of your favourite fights against a decent fighter from a different era for example - imagine putting Hopkins-Gorilla Jones on as the opener, for example. A) that's a cool as all hell fight and B) It's possible to imagine Hopkins agreeing to take good money for a fight he'd be expected to win over ten on the biggest card in history - but, conversely, Marvin Hagler, he'd take it as an insult to be fifth on the card - he'd say no. Think about the fighters, their management, risk reward, and how much money is in the pot.

Over-complicating things, am I? You ain't heard nothing yet.

First, there's a structure. The first two fights HAVE to be ten round fights. That means they can't be championship fights (or can they?). Secondly, these fights are going to be big money on the all time biggest card of all time (Assuming you get the main event right...) but not huge, huge money - you couldn't pay Oscar and Hatton to open a ten-rounder for example. They will say no to the money on offer and they'll say no to boxing such a difficult fight at the bottom of the card. Hatton won't fight Oscar or Cotto but he might agree to fight Witter, because he'd get such a big end of the low money - it's up to you to present these arguments.

Third fight must be either a ten or a twelve round fight, fourth can be twelve or fifteen as per your preference, main event MUST be fifteen.

No sneaking in pre- or post-prime versions of these guys to get names on the docket. If you want Tyson, it's prime Tyson earning an ATG payday or a diminished one further down the card where he takes a cut for good reason.

State a weight and whether or not it is a title fight.

Finally, I'm going to judge all your efforts. You will either get a NOT COOL:

    Sorry i'm so weird everyone.

Now, I'm going to provide an example, but I'll be staying away (I hope!) from fights you might have chosen! It should look something like this:

MAIN EVENT: Tyson Fury versus Mike Tyson, 15 rounds, undisputed heavyweight championship of the world. This would be a massive promotion and generate loads of cash for the card with Tyson taking the big chunk of the massive payday and Fury doing less well but still getting a career's best.

CHIEF SUPPORT: Ezzard Charles versus Archie Moore IV, 15 rounds, undisputed light-heavyweight championship of the world. A primed Moore meets his old nemisis as defending champ, and I think given how each of their careers went pre-heavyweight, this makes perfect sense for a first defence for Archie and there's just about enough schrill to get it down.

FIGHT 3: Terry McGovern versus Venice Borkhorsor, 10 rounds, bantamweight. I think that 10 rounds will be enough given thirty rounds for the first two, plus it probably gets me a few pennies off these guys who won' the that expensive anyway and who love to fight/aren't big names. It would be the biggest night of Venice's career and McGovern would fancy it, total war, might steal the show.

FIGHT 2: Derrick Chirora versus Dillian Whyte, 10 rounds, heavyweight, cheapo heavyweight dust-up which would make household names of the two contestants, so they'd take it and it would probably be great fun.

FIGHT 1: Bernard Hopkins vs Gorilla Jones, 10 rounds, non-title fight middleweight, would love to see B-Hop on the card just for the madness at the 10 deep press conferences and this would be a really interesting fight where Jones has a chance to put himself right in the title picture against a champion in the old-fashioned way.

Get me? To those of you who have read all the way to the bottom, I salute you. Remember, it's your card for all that it's a mad exercise and it should include the fights you really want to see.

For those that don't make it to the bottom: I legit reserve the right to remove any posts from this thread that are not cognitive of the OP! You have been warned, even though you're not reading this, so not really.

    A warm up -

MAIN EVENT: George Foreman versus Mike Tyson, 15 rounds, undisputed heavyweight championship of the world.

CHIEF SUPPORT: Ezzard Charles versus Michael Spinks, 15 rounds, undisputed light-heavyweight championship of the world.

FIGHT 3: Archie Moore versus Dwight Qawi, 12 rounds, USBA light heavyweight title and eliminator to fight the winner of Charles - Spinks.

FIGHT 2: Rubin Carter versus Nigel Benn 10 rounds, middleweight.

FIGHT 1: Frank Fletcher vs Eugene Hart, 10 rounds, non-title fight middleweight.

I think the card justifies itself. Moore and Qawi would have the added incentive of becoming the mandatory challenger. Couple of barnstormers early followed by a fight that could evolve in a number of ways then a how the hell will this one play out before some hefty fireworks again but on an ATG level.

Oooooo Johny working the system with the Fight 3 selection, I was ready to boo him but he back-door justifies it with the title shot for the winner and allowing the arch Moore's career followed pre-title - and the fact that he fought for the title essentially for free so hungry was he - I'll allow it.

    It's a great night's boxing. Here's some predictions:

Fletcher UD10 Hart in the best fight of the night.
Carter UD10 Benn in the second best fight of the night.
Moore SD12 Qawi in the third best fight of the night
Charles SD15 Spinks in a herky-jerky, weird, unsatisfying contest that never really gets going.
Foreman TKO10 Tyson in a strange fight where both fighters end up leaning all over each other inside and ar both absolutely knackered by the sixth.

    :D

I'm liking those reads too. A stoppage in fight 1 wouldn't surprise tho. I absolutely could see Spinks and Charles gelling like that. For that matter Tyson and Foreman could well be both exhausted that early too. Both would have to work hard early and Foreman's strength would certainly take some fore out of Tyson. I will certainly be doing another card sometime if that's allowed but will sit back and let some others have a go.

    Excellent thread idea.

Haha may die a death buddy, requires much thinking! People just want to browse the forum for the most part, stick an occasional opinion in, it's cool. But we shall see.

Main Event - Roberto Duran vs Sugar Ray Robinson; for me, this is a clash between the two best fighters ever in a fight which could only be an incredible spectacle. @147, for the undisputed welterweight champion and really to declare a true, clear pound-for-pound greatest of all-time.

Chief Support - Wilfredo Gomez vs Jeff Fenech, an undisputed championship fight wt super-bantam; and a true war between two incredible offensive fighters and two tough mutha****as. Gomez-Pintor was on the Benitez-Hearns undercard, so this one can be on this one. *15 round distance.

Undercard One - Bobby Chacon vs Arturo Gatti; needs no explanation, really. A super-featherweight unification where the winner takes their titles and fights the winner of a seperate fight between Diego Corrales and Tony Lopez. 12 round distance.

Undercard Two - Jorge Paez vs Kevin Kelley; another which I don't think needs much explanation. Would be an insane war, and likely end up as one of those great ten rounder Philly loved looking back on. Winner takes on current WBA featherweight champion Marcos Villasana.

Undercard Three - Myung-Woo Yuh vs Jacob Mtlata, a ten round light-flyweight contest where these two would just not stop throwing for all ten in a punch fest for the ages. Both seem to want a shot at either Jung-Koo Chang or Roman Gonzalez.

I made sure to get the atmosphere absolutely ****ing electric before the main event. How couldn't it be with an undercard like that? A main event which, to me, would have that aurora of a true, ridiculously big mega fight. It'd also bring in so many different types of fans with the various

I also reckon a card of this magnitude would allow for the higher level fighters down at feather to fight a little further down the card than they're used to. And I'm fairly certain Yuh and Mtlata would both just be flabbergasted to even be offered tickets to this one, let alone fight.

    Edit: specified rounds for 2/3.

Did wonder if you might not suffer for cash with Undrecard 1, but you're saving so much on two and three, should make it nay bother.

    @JohnThomas1

    My predictions would be:

Hart blasts Fletcher out in one ungodly war. Fletcher is at some point gonna eat that left hook, and then he's gonna eat another... and another... and another.

Carter stops Nigel mid/late in a fun frenzy of angry punches. Ruben's chin and precision at middleweight is pretty hard to bet against, TBF. Benn was easier to tire and stop at 160 than he was up at 168, and he often three with reckless abandon at middle. Carter has too many opportunities to mess up here IMO. Plus, he'd survive more mistakes than Benn would.

Moore's extra bit of class wins over Qawi in an awesome battle. Qawi pressing the action, slipping shots and trying to work his jab; while Moore sits tight and looks to nail Qawi coming in. Both vying to get the other on the ropes, both using all the tricks to set the other up. For me, Moore's bag of tricks was bigger, and trading with power like that is never something I'd bet on. Even if Moore didn't stop him, a knockout isn't all power's good for.

Charles SD15 Spinks, in a highly repulsive fight where most casuals think **** all happens. However, seeing that level of skill working and testing eachother would be awesome on some level. No analysis, I'll get carried away with myself; gotta rep Charles though.

Tyson TKO3 Foreman, in a short, explosive war where the quicker, tougher chinned Tyson gets off first and after constantly teeing off on George, ends up setting up a fast finish. Foreman's bombs give Tyson plenti of issues, and he may well have to get off the canvas for this. Ultimately though, it's one of those fights where I think speed trumps power and is decided on the better chin - which I think is Tyson.

Possibly. Could be one of those cases where it's what you like. For non-stop action, I don't think there's many fights which beat Yuh-Mtlata. And you'd get people who think the skill shown in Robinson vs Duran makes it the best.

If Duran got his tactics right, the skill level might be dialled down a bit I think as Duran ants momentum and physical strength in order to make it mucky. Not that won't both be doing genius things but I think if Duran turns it into a battle of skills he gets knocked out in the style of Thomas Hearns.

Duran would need to get that absolutely right or it'd be a disaster.

    Can not need a poo.

What a ****ed up card, loads of big men, some fascinating contests and arguably the best swarmer vs swarmer fight that can be mad to top it all off, much cheapness from the big men on the bottom of the card...they are heavies so you might be stretching it a bit, but then again, your maineventers are going to be expensive, but they aren't absolute superstars those boys.

    Oh, this is interesting.

Let's see how much we can finagle here. HEAVYWEIGHT EXTRAVAGANZA time.

    10 rounds: Jeanette vs Langford

Both men had a demonstrated willingness to fight for very small sums of money. This bout has the added advantage that it's under older rules, so the audience will be able to move forward in time as the card progresses. Winner take all, so both guys are motivated.

    10 rounds: McVey vs Wills

Same deal as above. I'm probably a terrible person for exploiting the conditions of privation that attended these gentlemen, but the thread question implies that I'm an equally famous old-timey boxing promoter. So I probably have ties to the Mob, and/or am the actual Don King. I'm unlikely to care much.

    12 rounds: Tua vs Greb

Possible title eliminator for an alphabet belt. Neither man won the heavyweight title, and Greb, in particular, wasn't picky about whom he fought. He's ironically the more affordable of the two. And Tua is meanwhile not going to demand high-risk money for fighting a supermiddleweight. This one's for all you forumites out there.

15 rounds: Deontay Wilder vs the Toronto 5

This is a spectacle, more than a boxing match, and probably wouldn't be enough to sell a card on its own. The perfect pick-me-up after Deontay's loss to Fury. Deontay has a total of 15 rounds to KO all 5 guys. If there's one left standing at the end, Deontay loses. It's a low risk event for Wilder, and he was happy to beat up Zelenoff on camera for free, so this one might be do-able. Good promotional opportunity for Mr. Bomb Squad. Also, he's the only one we will have to pay much money to. The Toronto 5 can be replaced by another 5 boxers of equally low level if necessary. This is also to whet the crowd's appetite for a KO in the next bout, which we will continually remind them "might happen at any time...!"

    15 rounds: Ali vs Tyson

The only possible option for maximum box office impact. We need to earn back our outlays somehow, and this is it.
