None of us is going to live forever (unless the promises of that other thread about immortality pan out.) So as long as we're still stuck with the facts of ageing, what do you see as the most effective approaches to boxing used by fighters with unusual longevity? And why do you think it worked for them? Foreman, Moore, Hopkins, Walcott, Fitzsimmons, etc. fans all welcome.
Angles. Moore, Hopkins, Walcott, Fitz, it's all about the geometry, it's about understanding absolutely what punching opportunities are relative to you and your opponent and where you are in the ring. When you watch old fighters you always say "can't pull the trigger." Well these guys can because they understand relative geography so very well. It's such a shame younger fighters can't learn this skill.
What McGrain said. Also having an excellent jab and natural power will carry into older age. So long as guys continue to learn and outwit their opponents with a decent jab and power you can get far.
Also crafty boxers and hard hitting sluggers seem to have the most opportunities to fight on. And of course boxer punchers who can do both. Pressure fighters do not seem to age as well in boxing terms because of the high work rate required.
