I think guys who travelled upwards and remained largely durable should appreciate more on your list for example James Toney was tagged by very large powerful heavyweights such as Rahman who stopped Lennox and Samuel Peter whose power and toughness was his meal ticket. They did hit Toney enough to make a case. I think this must put him above Hagler who cited John the Beast from memory as the hardest puncher he withstood.

Unless you only count there work at 160lbs then It gets murky for me because I cannot un-see Toney soak up shots from guys bigger then George Foreman even If I am only using his 160lbs work to rank him.

Charley Burley very well could be on the list the Murders Row all had good whiskers and shared the ring a lot most where WW-MWs so some consideration for them as I think they largely represent work man toughness at the top level against all odds. Greb was also one of the most durable fighters ever and I was confused not to see him on here.

By the same token Toney was legitimately dropped at 160 where as Hagler didn't come close. That alone puts Hagler ahead at 160.

When ranking at 160 i really think you need ti use 160. A guy might be struggling profusely to make the weight for example and be more likely to be dropped there than at 175. Tony's a murky case. He's an ATG P4P chin no doubt but it's Hagler at 160 for me.

I personally just believe Toney had the more proven chin. It is possible Hagler could have absorbed Rahmans shots but we do not have any actual proof he can take a heavyweight blow.

I absolutely know where you are coming from absolutely but at 160 only I'm still taking Hagler.

Nothing like the below (legimate KD this) ever happened to Hagler and he fought far far harder punchers at 160. He soaked up missiles from guys like Hearns, Mugabi, Briscoe, Hart and Roldan who quite a few opponents thought hit quite hard.

Basilio for sure,, going two 15 rounders with Robinson and an eye shut closed.

I remember an article that featured a mythical matchup between Hearns & Basilio calling a stoppage for Hearns at 11 rounds.

I think the writers were way off on that one

Good to see someone remember the Reggie Johnson knockdown.
    Did he not drop Hagler?
Hearns is a bigger puncher than Robinson.

The punch Hearns landed on Hagler would have dropped or hurt most guys more than it rocked Hagler. I think it hurt Hagler for a few seconds, but not close to what it would have done to anyone else. Marvin was just so solidly built and balanced in size.

Just about everyone discounts it and see it as a slip. Hagler feet were rising off the ground as he danced and the punch cuffed him behind the head pulling his head down and forward while his feet were going backward. It wasn't a knockdown from an impact as much as it was an accidental pull on the back of the head. Hagler was 0% hurt and furious it was called a KD. He tried to get it annulled from his record so proud was he of never being knocked down. There's a good replay between rounds and it happens in the first 10 seconds of the fight if you want to peruse it.

    LaMotta
    GGG
    Hagler
    Monzon
    Greb
    Hopkins

I only ranked champions chins keeping in mind that some fighters talent as in the murderers row were so talented that getting into brutal punch ups due to lacking alternative skills was not the norm SRR was the same...yes I remember Toney getting dropped and Hopkins turtle defense was something else but few fighters ever took the punches LaMotta took and GGG's chin seems like stainless steel when Canelo cracked him with everything he had clean and GGG didn't even blink and Haglers chin never failed once the closest I saw Hagler even bother by a puncher was Hearns and Mugabi...Mugabi bothered him with his power and chin...the only way to tell was Hagler moved on Mugabi until he felt like he had him measured highly unusual

I never once even saw Hagler hurt .. this mythical Hearns shot that hurt him, please show me exactly where on a film of the fight .. Roldan was a slip, a bad call, plain and simple .. I've seen Monzon badly rocked by Briscoe in round 9 of the rematch. Ive seen Toney dropped and stung .. I've seen LaMotta stunned ..I've see Robinson hurt but heat exhaustion aside he was never stopped in 25 years ... that said all of those guys had exceptional chins , heart and the ability to immediately bounce back .. amazing, tough guys ..
