Why would Golovkin play along with Ward's demands when he had better fights lining up at 160?

Golovkin was ready to fight at 168 when he lacked options at 160.

Prime Kovalev was a better fighter than GGG, that fight doesn't tell us much

    Canelo, twice ;)

But seriously that was obviously at 160. There is nothing to say how GGG would have fared north of 160 bar speculation. I'd say those scalps are on a par with Canelo - and regardless of the "official" results, it's clear from those 2 fights that even a faded GGG WAS Elite.

Kessler was simultaneously mocked as a Eurobum and praised as a quality win by the usual suspects.

    Froch was good but basic.

Younger Kovalev would be too much for Ward.

No he didn't, not back then GGG was fighting guys like Murray and Monroe Jr back then. He didn't have a fight lined up with Canelo back then. Ward was a much better option than those guys and would have paid him much more and been a huge legacy fight for him. You're trying to tell me guys like Murray, Monroe Jr Wade and Lemieux are better options than Ward who was a proven elite top 3 P4P fighter and brings more money? Yeah they're better options if you think you can't beat ward I agree with that.

Kessler is arguably Calzaghe's best win he's no bum he's just not as good as Calzaghe and Ward.

    Yes.
Ward did **** numbers on his return, and he would demand even split to boot despite not bringing the $ in.

    Kovalev-Ward 2 was a flop.

Stop! GGG-Lemieux PPV was a flop. GGG would have made more money facing Ward than he would have against Lemieux Monroe Jr and Wade combined. He would have gotten a career high payday against Ward.

He also would have been robbed most likely.
You will never get a fair share fighting an American in the US. Look at Kovalev - Ward 1... even Ward was amazed that he got the decision.

So Golovkin should go up in weight, and then get a flop?
    Prove it.
Cotto-Alvarez was in 2015. The winner would fight GGG.

    Cotto, Alvarez > Ward

Are you referring to that short right uppercut to the belt-line with 28 seconds left in Round 1? Belt-line is legal and on that punch Kovalev had his gloves pushing down on Ward's head / neck. You say Ward was landing low, low, low BLOWS as in plural but you reference a punch that wasn't even low and Kovalev was pushing down on him with the gloves. That's a bad example to accuse Ward of. Find me some examples of Ward actually hitting Kovalev low.

Go to 2:51 in that video (1:25 left in round 6). Ward lands a jab to the belt-line. That's not low.

You wanna talk about fighting dirty, look at in the next clip at 2:52 in that video (1:12 left in round 6) Kovalev has Ward in a head lock and he's pulling him towards him by the neck.

He would've gotten a boxing lesson that's what he would've have got. Willing to fight anyone 168-154 that's what GGG said but Ward not you, for you 164 you're too good. There's a reason why GGG hid under the bed anytime Ward's name was mentioned, his fans brought up Kovalev and were happier than a kid on their birthday when Ward agreed to move up and fight Kovalev so he could leave poor GGG alone:deal: Ward dared to be great, something GGG knows nothing about and took on a killer in Kovalev. They thought Kovalev would handle GGG's work but too bad for them that never occurred. Ward>GGG Facts!
