I actually don’t think AJ is overrated. Out of all the current champs and ex champs in the division he is the most proven. I think he is just representative of where the division is at now a days, mostly big lumbering giants. He just happens to be the quickest and most skilled of the giants. In general I always find the guys in the lower weights are more skilled but it’s always the intrigue of the skills will overcome height, weight and power differentials. Usyk just proved he had the skills to overcome AJ’s physical advantages. I’m still not sure how a Fury fight would play out, but I’m also not convinced Fury would fight him.

Ive never thought AJ was overrated, but I have to assume I overrated him quite a bit, while underrating Usyk, if the fight was as one sided as it sounds here and Usyk won the early rounds. If AJ had won the early rounds and was overtaken with Usyks adjustments and stamina down the stretch, I could accept that and AJ wouldnt drop too terribly much in my estimation. However, to lose the early rounds while gas tank is full, and no adjustments needed by Usyk, idk.... I do feel I overrated AJ a bit.

But I do hear you man, and I still rate him highly for this era. His resume speaks for itself to me (obviously not everyone agrees on that).

Indeed, will def be interesting to see what Fury does from here.

Usyk is one of the worst possible matchups for Joshua.

I actually give Joshua some credit even in defeat, because he showed me some stuff that I called him on and answered them to an extent:-

Mental strength - you could see in round 4 he was looking bamboozled and he KNEW Usyk was better than him; but he dit down and tried his damndest and managed to nick a couple of rounds (5/6)

Gastank - for all the crap I (and others) have given him about his gastank, Usyk pushed a tremendous pace in this fight - and sure, AJ was exhasuted in the 12th, and just about went - but I though that might happen in 8/9/10 - and it didn't his stamina was better than I expected.

Many folks saying that AJ was too passive etc - but how much of that was Usyk? His start was BLISTERING, he had AJ immeditaely on the back foot and his feints and footwork was in full effect; his accuracsy was top drawe, and I think it was Usyk that made AJ passive.

Yeah, AJ landed good shots because hes accurate, he landed about 5 good shots while Usyk landed about 50.
If AJ lands 5 good shots on Usyk Wilder will land 0.

Joshua is "guilty" of wanting to have entertaining fights above winning them, so he doesn't really clinch. His size could have been a real advantage here but he didn't use it - either because he wasn't smart enough himself or he and his team got their strategy wrong.

Either way, his corner team telling him basically to keep doing the things that hadn't been working the whole fight was bad advice and he needs to seriously consider getting a new trainer if he's going to continue.

Did Usyk looked much improved from his Chisora form? Or pretty much the same. Im just wondering if hes improving as he gets used to carrying the weight or if hes already at his heavyweight level right now.

He boxed masterfully for the first 5 rounds, but set a hell of a pace, AJ did a little better from 6-8, but only won 2 outright, Usyk was a little tired, but mostly just pacing himself, then Usyk came roaring back and finished strong, winning the last 4 rather easily.
