People in thread are thinking Usyk proved that small guys from the past would beat hyped big heavyweights (Joshua) and didn't even watch the fight.

Usyk clocked in at 6'3, 220, which is bigger than most champions pre-90s.

Boxers only had one arm each in Ali's era.

Mike Tyson was the first boxer born with two arms due to random genetic mutation.

Usyk is the former undisputed cruiserweight champion. Him beating Joshua isn't a huge upset. I favored Joshua but I've always said Usyk has the tools to do it. I even made a thread in detail about how Usyk is a nightmare style for Joshua.

Whereas Wilder struggled with Szpilkas movement who is pretty much a nobody. Had that been Usyk Wilder wouldn've gotten schooled even worse

Yeah because you are probably from the Us or Uk. Here were I live most good boxers learn the EE russian style and it is on average the better boxing style then most other styles. The foot work and fintation with the lead hand is completely different to western boxing schools.

    Usyk UD AJ 115 - 113

Props to all my great British brothers and sisters that came out in their thousands and ****ing partied in the face of encroaching authoritarian overreach. Show us how! Wouldn't be the first time. There's a reason I'm an unabashed Anglophile. DOWN THE PLANDEMIC!! **** yeah!

Props to the judges who gave a reasonable and correct decision. Not one ridiculous card. It can yet be done.

Props to AJ for a great effort and NOT GASSING! Imo that AJ beats everybody not named Usyk. The other two are clowns.

Most of all props and congratulations to the new Champ! The King is dead!! Long Live The King!! :ole:

It's strange that the score it's not mentioned in Boxrec, like they don't know for it or, maybe don't like it :)

It's true that decent heavyweight southpaws didn't exist before Corrie Sanders.

What surprised me is that Usyk looked kind of shitty for 2-3 years but regained every ounce of his form tonight.

Ok the difference in the system:
EE system: your lead hand is used like a fencing tool, you try to stick it out relatively far and try to use it as a short weapon that can fast alternate between fast jab, hock or a „stick“ to push your opponent.
Footwork: the idea is to try to stand much straighter then in american schools. Your back foot should not be bend too much to the outside, in pratice a lot of times the foot does point outside but in training they try to minimize that while americans teach the opposite.
This foot positioning alows for a much smoother movement and coordination between feet and hand the only downside is that head movement and unorthodox punching angles are harder because you cannot bend your body as much. You combine those to 2 to creat feint paterns: were you pretend to throw jab and at the same time bounce back and forth to confuse your opponent.
Americans are usaly very flat footed when they are feinting or they have there hand low when they try that. Ee schools. Kind of gives you the safety of having a hand up high with a good flowy footwork. I could go more in detail

Hm. That's an interesting one, actually.

Not sure how far to push it with the Usyk victory, though, unless we are saying that being a southpaw is the only way to beat a much bigger heavyweight. We actually have two data points with Joshua. Ruiz beat him up, too.

If Usyk can beat Fury then you can bump this thread for eternity.
