Volkanovski made me a fan tonight. Was always a huge fan of Ortega and couldn't believe Ortega continue after rnd 3 and finish the fight and actually coming on strong in rnd 5.

Rd 3 was absolutely incredible. It looked like Ortega had him in that mounted guillotine. What a round.

Amazing performance from the champ. Insane cardio/gastank.

Based on Dr. Sutterer's opinion, the excitement this fight produced may have come at an extremely high cost to Ortega. He suffered extensive injuries. Allowing Ortega to continue despite answering the doctor's and referees' questions incorrectly, seems like a dangerous decision in hindsight.

    Ortega should move up, IMHO.

    That or face Calvin next.

Completely agree. He needed a KO to win after rnd3. They should have definitely pulled him after 4th rnd. He suffered a brutal beating that probably took years of his career.

Should of been an instant TKO to Volk, Rules are a fighter must make way to his own stool when the bell goes with no assistance from a team or the officials he laid there and quit. Brian had to be lifted off the canvas then given an extra minute to recover .

Congrats to him for carrying on but they put his life in danger hoping he could win because he received a bigger pop at weigh ins and walk in.
UFC circus in action again. Dana was missing again in the press conference when a so called boring fighter holds the title.
If it was McFloper that escaped them subs and rained down punches to just about stop someone, Dana would of held press conferences back to back for the next month praising him.

Great fight. Surprised they let it go on after the 3rd. Ortega’s weakness has always been his hands. He always comes out 2nd in exchanges.

The champ attends the Raiders game after defending his title.

both guys need 6 months off to heal , Ortega might want to take up a non-physical line of work

It's a shame as he has vastly improved his Boxing, but he needs to utilise his height and reach more.

More body kicks, more Jabs and uppercuts.
