How the hell did Campbell Hatton get the decision over his opponent last night, I had it clearly 5 Rounds to 1 in favour of Martinez absolute shambolic result or did I miss something.
You weren’t imagining anything. It was one of the worst robberies I have ever seen. As you say Campbell Hatton only won a round, and was getting lit up by a 2-4 journeyman. Properly smashed up and clowned by an opponent flown over to get carried out of the ring in a stretcher. He needs to step down to the small hall shows if he wants to box for fun. As he really isn’t cut out for boxing, he hasn’t inherited any of his dads boxing genetics.
Yeah that was a total embarassment for the Hatton family and Hearn. Clearly a robbery. I hope Uncle Eddie gave Martinez an extra 20 grand for him taking the robbery so well Conor Benn was never this bad
The boy is going to be despised by boxing fans if robberies like keep happening.good luck getting the same love as his auld man.
Marcus McDonna is part of a finely tuned operation. So disgracefully predictable. And then for Hatton afterward to say that Martinez may have won only one round. Come on. He could've said "it was close" which would've been ridiculous enough. Campbell Hatton will be sparked as soon as he's not up against a part-time (Martinez was very part-time) boxer.
Joshua could not see out his eye for the final 3 rounds and Marcus McDonnell had the same problem in both eyes from the start of the Campbell Hatton fight. Incredible scenes
Hearn wants to cash in on Hatton's fan base. If he's desperate for a football fan style following - he should've looked at Nathan Heaney. He's obviously much older than Hatton and not necessarily anything special - but he's an honest pro and is a good ticket seller. Heaney is with Warren who clearly saw the attraction there. They can't con the fans forever with people like Hatton - it'll just come back to bite them.
The fighter is just as bad as the referee accepting this nonsense - would have great respect for the lad if he was honest about his performance and the referees card.
I understand that it puts him in a bit of an awkward spot - in several ways - but bloody hell, to say that was just painful to listen to. There's probably nothing wrong with the guy and he is only 20 years old, and with inexperience and the awkward situation, he probably didn't know what to say for the best. I genuinely hope he's not that deluded, because it will be to his detriment going forward.
Absolutely mate - there was spells in that fight where he was in big trouble and I thought he may get stopped. The opponent knew from the end of round 1 that Hatton had nothing. Sad that he will become a millionaire with all the Matchroom Spin while more talented lads all over the country never make it pay to go full time in boxing.
Just re-watched it. Was worse on second watch. I think they will struggle to match him going forward. The other lads smile said it all when the result was called.
Needs to get rid of his dad and uncle and stop walking out to Blue Moon and Oasis songs. Create his own identity. Get a new trainer, get on some small hall / NextGen shows and learn properly.
Outrageous decision it’s not the boys fault but it’s hard to see him doing anything in boxing don’t think he’ll reach British title level
Conor Benn was on smaller shows lower down the bill starting out. I doubt anyone outside of the hardcore know he was knocked down twice by the French kid at York Hall but that’s where you learn. Last night millions on tele and about 50,000 in attendance saw Hatton get a gift.
