How would that fight go? We know Wlad does well vs smaller guys by using his size. Jabbing and clinching whenever they come close.
Would Usyk with his foofwork, feints and angles cause problems for prime Wlad like he did vs AJ last night?

When Wlad was training for Fury, Usyk was sparring him and giving him all he could handle. I don't think it's an easy fight for Wlad, Usyk is better than anyone Wlad's fought not named Fury.

I think Wlad is better suited to beat Usyk than AJ with his superior right hand, lead hand and ability to manhandle smaller men. But with Usyk's footwork he could get in before Wlad can react and beat him to the punch, if he can do that then Wlad is in trouble because his jab and grab style is only effective if he can get off first.

For me prime for prime, I still favour Wlad as I think he has the style to beat Usyk and if last night taught me anything always go with that to pick a winner as every time I don't I get it wrong.

Come on .. watch Wlad v Haye & Byrd etc.. that Wlad was much sharper & had a much better accuracy & footwork than Joshua last night .. Losing to Joshua at 41 coming off a loss doesn't mean that much., so let's not judge him on that.. and he nearly sparked him anyway..

Klitschko was stopped by Puritty, Sanders and Brewster, as well as Joshua. He was comprehensively outboxed by Fury, and in between, he feasted on the most mediocre and crap opposition for any reign in history.

Usyk is simply a different standard to Wladimir Klitschko. The competitive match is the one against Vitali Klitschko.

Actually that makes sense. Wlad probably would clinch Usyk to death

Yeah looking at the 40 years Klitschko to make assumption.
As far as the sparring tale, it's exactly that. Absolutely nothing confirmed. No one was there to say if Usyk was actually giving him all could of trouble, knocking him down or so.
And i doubt all of this b.c., cause they are friends.
Anyway comparing how was past his prime Klitschko at 40 will do against Usyk is all wrong.
And i'm a fan of both guys i just think Klitschko is very different to Usyk. That left hook of Klitschko in his prime was a beast, as well as his right hand.
Klitschko also know how to fight off the jab perectly, something Joshua is just ain't that good.
Not to mention Klitschko was absolutely faster both on the feet and with the hands.
I think any version between 2006-2012 of Klitschko will beat Usyk, Klitschko with Manny was unbeatable. Prior to Sanders lost i think Klitschko wins again.
The Fury and Joshua, Klitschko version, that was way too past is prime, and way slower and everything else, will lose to Usyk 100%.

I was surprised at the lack of clinching last night. I know Usyk didn't allow Joshua to tie him up, but it's a tactic a much bigger and stronger man should use - ala Fury vs Wilder in their second fight.

I agree with all except that its convenient to consider Wlad past prime when he got beaten by Fury.
I think he was just unable to deal with Fury's size and awkward style. I think even if it was the Wlad vs Povetkin he would still struggle vs Fury in a first fight.
Its a shame that rematch never happened.

Against AJ he was out of it a loong time but also changed his style up like he would have vs Fury had the match gone trough.
It was the most exciting we have seen since the Sanders loss and he almost got AJ out of it despite the ring rust.

Klitschko was past past prime at the Pulev fight already. Against Jennings he looks ordinary, and later we understand it was not because Jennings was some kind of a god ....
Looking just the stats you can clearly see study decline. He started clinching way more, cause his stamina was not the same, and he paced himself way more, because he doesn't have the energy level to do his usual pace.
Fury ain't nothing special, and soon people will realize it.
Saying Klitschko at 40 was not regressed big time in that fight is either biased or being naive.

Both against AJ and Fury, his legs were just not what it used to be, as well as his hand speed. His jab was absolutely gone. Not even going to talk about his right hand, but his left hook shot, which was a killer, was slow, slow and telegraphic by huge mile.Joshua see it from miles.
Last time i truly see prime phyiscal Klitschko, was against Wach. He started declining big after Manny Steward death, and working with Banks was a terrible, terrible choice. Klitschko was his own trainer obviously ....

As far as the exciting goes, Joshua always gives this, and for that alone deserve a huge respect.

Vitali methodically breaks him down but he's ALL trouble for Wladimir who's terrible against southpaws and fast fighters. Vitali TKO11 Usyk, Usyk 116-112 Wlad or left hand stoppage.

Wladimir vs usyk is imo a very good fight.

But let's not compare wlad to joshua. Prime wlad knew how to win, his mental game was levels above joshua, elite footwork, great distance judging. And an absolute atg power jab. Just a great technical fighter. + perfect at dirty boxing tactics like clinching, pressing and pushing. His stamina was also way better in his prime, where he could 12 fast paced rounds.
He would try to keep usyk at bay way more with his ramrod jab and also clinch him to death in almost every close situation. I think it would be a close but clear dirty decision in an absolute stinker.
But that's what you have to do to win, and wlad was a winner

Wlad was a much smarter boxer than AJ and had very few holes in his tried and tested approach. He was limited though and I expect Usyk would have found a way around it.

Pretty much this. Wlad would either create space moving backwards to negate Usyk's lateral movement, or, if he ran out of space, wrap him up and lean on him close. He'd work off the jab and hope to catch Usyk lunging in with the straight right. Unlike AJ, Klitscko fought tall very well. Wlad would try to control the distance and pace like that. Probably quite an ugly fight to watch with Usyk trying to get past the jab and Wlad smothering him at every occasion. For my money Wlad on points.
