Styles make fights. Wlad is imo the goat in fighting smaller man. People just tend to hate on him because he was never a crowd pleaser and didnt want to. His goal was always winning in every possible way
After Steward taught Wlad to use his natural advantages against smaller men he became very hard to beat. It would have been one for the ages - and although Wlad had similarities to AJ in that he obviously didn't like to get tagged and could be overly cautious because of it, he really was brutally effective at leaning on smaller guys, sapping their strength and grinding them down, whilst keeping them at bay with that power-jab of his. Usyk of course poses a huge movement and skills challenge to Wlad - but of course the Usyk we saw last night is past-prime too. Prime v prime this would have been one for the ages IMO and very hard to call - a true 50/50 pick-em - and think it would come down to whether or not Usyk could neutralize the jab; like he succeeded with against AJ last night.
Even me as a massive wlad fan have more sympathy for the more easy going personality of usyk + usyk is definitely the better talent.
Klitschko knew how to box and use his reach. I think Klitschko would win comfortably but you never know.
He eased up on power to try and be quicker and land on Usyk but he still couldn’t connect with anything an when he did it had no power. It was his only option really to make it the final bell. If he loaded up he’d of gassed and took out way earlier. There is no way Joshua can beat Usyk, he operates clearly on another level
Usyk's win last night was a spectacular one. But I don't know if I am ready to start picking him over fighters like Wlad. I mean pre Emanuel Wlad? Yeah 100%. But a prime Wlad? Different kettle of fish. Wlad can do something that AJ cannot.....he can fight tall. In fact we was pretty ****ing good at fighting tall. It makes it an entirely different puzzle for Usyk to figure out.
What?! This is almost justifying Wlads desperate illegal clinch tactics. There are some rules in boxing... Wlad just clinches because he's the bigger man and does not know what to do with his stand up boxing skill. Wlads best names on his resume are Povetkin and Haye.. Both fights he should have been disqualified for pushing, leaning, clinching. Usyk is the far superior fighter
Actually it was Povetkin who was charging head down into Wlad's chest like a crazy bull to engage clinches. He desperately didn't want to get knocked out. Haye was too scared to engage and was falling all over the place.
Wlad all day. Wlad was great against smaller men and he also dominated Southpaws. Only Sanders beat him in that stance and he was super aggressive with a much bigger punch. Usyk fought brilliant but Aj is not prime Wlad.
